Blizzard sends in-game mail explaining today's problems
Blizzard has sent an in-game mail to everyone explaining what went wrong with the mail system, and what will be happening to fix it.In other news, the world blew up from all the irony. The mice have quickly begun repairing the world, and hope to have a new one constructed shortly.
Basically the mail is outlining what Zarhym told us all earlier: that they will be reimbursing the items and gold lost during today's in-game mail failure, or mailure as I've started to call it tonight.
Full text of the in-game mail after the break, or you can just look at a large screenshot of the message.
Full text of the in-game mail:
Greetings,
An error occurred in maintenance today that is preventing players from retrieving in-game mail.
A fix that will allow players to retrieve items and gold will be implemented over the next few days. Please do not create an in-game ticket or contact phone support for this issue. Multiple mails will be sent returning your items and gold automatically. Further information will be posted on the official World of Warcraft forums.

Same here, had things to help my Death Knight level a little quicker mailed it to an alt as my bags are full. Now they say "in few days" to get those items back. Few days are not going to help me when Wrath Launches a little less than 24 hours.

Good lord. I have been checking in periodically now for almost 10 hours. 10 hours. And my server still isn't up. I may just quit and wait for KOTOR.

I keep reading that we are getting compensated with three days time is there anywhere that i can go that actually confirms/denys this?
Chris Anthony Nov 12th 2008 6:27AM
You've already been credited for three days' time if you play on the US servers. Go to the Account Management page; at the bottom, in Billing Information, you should see a listing for "Three Day Credit" on 11/29/08 (or somewhen in that vicinity).
This three-day credit, however, was for the instability and issues after the last patch - as you can see, it was applied almost two weeks ago. Blizzard is unlikely to award another credit for yesterday's issues.

Again, off topic, but WTB answer -_-
I am trying to download WotLK from the official site, and when it gets to the whole screen with blizzard art and so on, it checks my internet speed.
Apparently, it says I have no internet. I obviously do, and I turned off anti virus and so on, but it says the same thing. I really don't know what to do, I restarted comp and internet but still the same thing.
Any computer whiz's out there that could help?

The other post said this will affect all mail sent in the past 15 days. Does that also include mail returned to sender in the past 15 days? I have a few things in the mail that have been bouncing between toons for the better part of 6 months.

...So, a game you want to play, but that had an unforseen issue, is now completely unacceptable to you?
A flood caused my basement to leak, I'm never going down there again. SUCK IT, ARCHITECT!
The power went out and my alarm clock is flashing, so now I'm DONE WITH TIME.
I was going to make a sandwich and there was mold on the bread! I'm never having food again!
Look, people, if you want to quit, do it. But don't get pissed off about an unintentional bug in a game deleting your make-believe items for a few hours. If you want to eBay your account, you're welcome to do that too (though I sincerely hope it gets shut down and deleted for ToS violations). But throwing a hissy fit because you lost a day of playing a game and some virtual property, they are being refunded? That's ridiculous and childish, and you need to grow up.

HAHA! Well done! If that doesn't drive the nail in, I don't know what will...
It's good to see more understanding than the few selfish that live in a alternate reality.
But as far as time goes... yes, we should be done with it... throw that alarm clock out!

WOW, Gurubashi is back up but the lag for everyone is absolutely unplayable. Ping and latency is normal, but the delay between keypress and when the server executes the command (a simple attack) is a good 8 seconds.

We've got a weird bug on our server some of the honor items are free at the quartermasters.
Brutic Nov 12th 2008 12:57AM
Same on my server

WHY ISNT GHOSTLANDS COMING BACK UP ALRDY?!?!?!??!?!? pain in the a@!. seriously blizzerd u get millions, billions a doller EVERY MONTH!!! and this is how you treat your costumers? by making them wait a WHOLE day right before the xpac? couldnt u just let us play while u sended the mails back? youv outdone yourself here and probably lost thousends of players just because of your cheapness. im sure you can spare 2 million dollers or even 20 on getting more staff? i mean u get so much that, that should seem like a penny to you... you have seriously outdone yourself and im expecting your stocks to go down the drain.

In unrelated news, some PVP gear is being given away in Org pvp room. Mainly for Priests and Warlocks.
Arkeband Nov 12th 2008 1:01AM
Some of the rings and amulets at the s2 vendor are missing their cost... people are going nuts.
Expect some more downtime when they remove all the ill-gotten goods. >_>
Callistah Nov 12th 2008 1:05AM
What about those of us on servers that havent been restored yet???? like Muradin for example... it hasnt been up once today!
T_T
Phoenix Nov 12th 2008 1:04AM
Priest and Warlock sets of S2 are currently free, as are a couple caster amulets and a caster ring from honor points.
Many 2handed weapons are without rating requirements, although you still need the arena points to buy them.
Likewise, the lower tier PvP 2 handers now have an 1850 rating requirement.

I am very unhappy about waiting all day to get false promises but i know for one sincei 'm a software developer and run my own hosting company that these things happen and sometimes you really cant know until you test it to the public.
what they should have done was this maint. at an earlier time woukld have been better, not when everyone was working to get their gear in order, receive payments for new gear anticipating the new xpac.
I know if my server is not down up by tonight i'm surely not gonna sit outside freezing my ass off since i pre-ordered over a month ago.
