Many realms back online after emergency maintenance
Realms are finally starting to come online after today's emergency maintenance. Most servers seem to be up and available now, though whether that will be the case for the rest of the day remains to be seen. It looks like they actually did manage to make progress on the issues, too.Obviously, the free PvP gear is gone. The prices have been fixed and the purchased items removed from players' bags as expected. They've also made progress on the mail issue. Many players logging in now are finding their mailboxes packed full of the things they were missing after yesterday's extremely extended maintenance. Not everyone has received their mail yet (I haven't), but it's going to take some time as Blizzard mentioned. It's just nice to see they've made progress even with all of the other problems going on.
Now that they're up, let's hope they stay that way and Wrath of the Lich King has a clean, smooth launch.
Edit: Thank you to MechChef for reminding me about the official realm status page. It looks like only a small handful of servers are still down.

yay!
now if only i was not at work. I am not sure which day is going to be more worthless work-wise, today from the anticipation, or tomorrow from the exhaustion

Wish I knew when Moon Guard would be up.

Looks like the vast majority are back.

I would rather have the servers down all day yesterday than down tonight.

Has anyone game gone shipping?? I got next day air on amazon; says i will get monday. :(
Verit Nov 12th 2008 12:52PM
I never did understand this... I got every collectors edition at the local grocery store the same day as ship.
Tess Nov 12th 2008 6:30PM
Amazon still says "not shipped" for my Collector's Edition (which has been on order since Sept 16th btw)... and still says I get "release delivery" of Nov 13.
:(
Ugh. Anyone know if I get a regular copy and upgrade tonight... can I "re-upgrade" to the CE once it finally arrives?
Great Scott Nov 13th 2008 2:23AM
No idea. I selling CE when it gets here, profit!

Finally, all the people whining on the previous threads about downtime can get back to whatever was so important in the first place. Maybe trade spam...
Thank you, Blizzard, for working so hard to get stuff up and running. The hamster is running around the wheel once again.

*snickers* smooth launch my butt.
Maybe I'll be wrong, but I highly doubt it will be anything close to smooth.

I'm sure there is a simple answer to this question but here it goes:
When Blizzard says that they will be replacing mail from the past 15 days does this mean that they will be replacing EXACTLY what was in my mailbox (to the best of their ability) or will they be replacing ALL mail sent in the past 15 days (sort of like how I got duplicates of my Non-Combat pets after that fiasco)?
Any help with answering that would be greatly appreciated.
stevens.ce Nov 12th 2008 12:46PM
I'm not sure, but if I read the previous posts about this correctly, they will be restoring mail from the previous 15 days THAT WAS LOST, not all mail sent in that time period. It sounds like a simple database reconstruction (although I'm sure there is NOTHING simple about it).
native Nov 12th 2008 12:54PM
Thats what I initially thought but the fact that I received all of my Non-Combat pets when I actually hadn't lost any made me wonder how closely Blizzard tracks some of that info. Perhaps they didn't figure it was a big deal but that was A LOT of free non-combat pets I essentially got to send to an alt because I never really lost them in the first place.
Also I seemed to remember Blizzard making a comment (quite a while ago) that they weren't able to effectively monitor the in-game mail system due to the size and amount of mail flowing around.
Guess I'll just wait and see.

T-Dogg Nov 12th 2008 1:14PM
My Buddy also still has his. I wonder if they are still working on cleaning that up or if hunters will be a bit lucky?!
StJlMMY Nov 12th 2008 1:28PM
one can only hope, hunters need the help
Bearcat Nov 12th 2008 12:44PM
I just hope we won't miss a world event due to the servers being down.
