For a player starting out in Northrend, it's easier to just pick up the three neutral points of Kamagua, Unu'pe, and Mo'aki Harbor flightpoints to connect HF to BT.

Take a boat or zep to the starting area of your choice, run to the neutral FP in that zone, then take the turtle to Mo'aki, learn that FP, then take the turtle to the last. You can now fly back and forth...
