Wrath comes early to Europe
Although the rest of us have to wait until midnight Eastern/9 PM PST, it looks like some lucky European subscribers have gained entry to Northrend and access to Death Knight creation! We've been getting multiple tips about it from different tipsters over the past half hour; at first it was easy to call it a fake, but at this point there are enough independent claims out there that I'll just have to accept the fact: North America is slow.
Seriously though, how does it feel to be among the first non-beta Death Knights and Northrend questers in the world? Presumably, these are people who managed to get their copies of the game early, and upgraded their accounts already; who would have thought that would actually work? On second thought, maybe it's a good thing we don't have Wrath early. I would be seriously tempted to stay home and skip my own midnight event.
I guess this means the race to 80 is on, and it's a pretty good bet the winner will be on a European realm. They always seem to get the firsts anyway.
Update: this is apparently official: "Remember, there are different time zones, even in Europe." Wrath is live!

Eheh, already some DK on my server.
Installing Wrath atm, I'll probably have a walk in Northrend soon but I won't be questing there in the next days to avoid the crowd and broken nerves :]

I 'blame' the Moscow time-zone: they're 2 hours ahead of EU realm time (CET), and I bet Northrend got unlocked at 22oo CET/oooo Moscow time.
Have fun, you early players. Enjoy the peace and quiet while you can, we're on our way to camp your spawns!

Europeans shouldn't count for world first to 80, since they have a MAJOR advantage. Unless you want to compare who sleeps earlier california, or Florida
Muse Nov 12th 2008 5:20PM
@Mike Jonez
Actually, they do. Because when the content patches with the new raids come out, US gets them on Tuesdays, EU on Wednesdays, but the "World First Kill" doesn't distinguish the time difference.
Can't have it both ways.

@ mike jonez
if ya want to not count europeans, then you cant count americans either, us australians dont get the game till friday our time, which is 8 hours later then US release

Nanatsuya Nov 12th 2008 4:54PM
Damn Europeans getting a head start!
stevens.ce Nov 12th 2008 4:53PM
I'd love to say something patriotic and bash Europe at the same time, but I can't.
GO EUROPE! Make us proud. Enjoy the lag.
LaChance Nov 12th 2008 4:55PM
Confirmed, doing /who death knight on Hellfire-EU shows 17 DKs, you can't see them if you go to the starting zone, I assume this is because it is phased?
Dzenan Nov 12th 2008 4:57PM
Hehe, ganker wannabe? :P
Abscynth Nov 12th 2008 4:58PM
Yea, You can't see the DK's until they reach the final 'phase' of the quest chain, It takes a good 1-2 hours to complete though - Best place for DK first sightings would most likely be right beside Lights Hope Chapel in EPL.
Giventofly Nov 12th 2008 4:57PM
Confirmed on Grim Batol EU also, a few DKs online and ppl in Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord :D
WitchDrAsh Nov 12th 2008 5:00PM
A lot of people can't create DKs, I can on my horde server, but no ally
Sarsella Nov 12th 2008 4:58PM
It's a race? really? Well, I for one am content with playing the game, taking my time. I'm sure I'll get to 80 eventually. No need to rush.
Frank Nov 12th 2008 5:01PM
^^ i'm with you. what's the freakin' rush??
Camaris Nov 12th 2008 5:23PM
Yep, completely agreed, a large part of the fun is in the journey.
That being said... GIEV GAME NAU.
Rene Nov 12th 2008 6:07PM
Yeah, it's a shame. And then, when they are all level 80 they are complaining that there is not enough content.
Some people don't even read the quests, they just look up the title in Wowhead (or use addons doing even that for them), go to the coordinates and start to kill/collect/whatever. Blizzard are putting so much effort into creating atmospheric quests and environments and then players just race through it. The question is why? You don't have any advantage by leveling faster, except for questionable "first kills", but really: who cares about that?
Just the other day when we started a retro raid to MC and we were waiting in Blackrock Mountain someone in my guild "discovered" that the middle "isle" in the mountain (the one with the path leading down to BRD) was held in place by chains held by giant dwarf carvings in the rock. He used to raid MC for over a year and never bothered to look at the environment. It's so sad.
Stormtamer Nov 12th 2008 4:58PM
26 Death Knights, and three of them lvl 56 on Dragonblight EU.
Ive actually stood on the Tundra boat myself, but got off before it left when i heard that if you didnt have the expansion when the boat went to the load screen, youd be teleported back to Stonetalon or something stupid.
Kahdrill Nov 12th 2008 4:59PM
