Wrath comes early to Europe
Although the rest of us have to wait until midnight Eastern/9 PM PST, it looks like some lucky European subscribers have gained entry to Northrend and access to Death Knight creation! We've been getting multiple tips about it from different tipsters over the past half hour; at first it was easy to call it a fake, but at this point there are enough independent claims out there that I'll just have to accept the fact: North America is slow.
Seriously though, how does it feel to be among the first non-beta Death Knights and Northrend questers in the world? Presumably, these are people who managed to get their copies of the game early, and upgraded their accounts already; who would have thought that would actually work? On second thought, maybe it's a good thing we don't have Wrath early. I would be seriously tempted to stay home and skip my own midnight event.
I guess this means the race to 80 is on, and it's a pretty good bet the winner will be on a European realm. They always seem to get the firsts anyway.
Update: this is apparently official: "Remember, there are different time zones, even in Europe." Wrath is live!

I think people can play early european because of the clever cookies that brought russian game copies. As russia it is now 1 am nov 13th i assume the russian authentication keys are beig accepted and those with russian copies can play.
vodka for all!
Inara Nov 12th 2008 6:41PM
Actually no.. if you try to check out the Russian servers you get a lot of warnings telling you your account will be changed to Russian with no turning back. Something to do with the client characters being different. That, and the servers listed here aren't the Russian servers :)
A few guildies have gotten their copies from online stores, amazon and play.com mainly, and the copies arrived a day or two early.
I'll be queuing up for my copy at the store tomorrow morning, in hopes that i get one of the CE copies they've got in stock. *crosses fingers*
Tumleren Nov 12th 2008 6:46PM
Huh?
I bought my game from a Danish vendor, and I got it in my hands, an currently paying a Death Knight, and about to level my paladin.. So no, not some russian version. Lots of stores here are selling before time (Toys'R'us, Boomtown, Coolshop etc.)
OleR Nov 12th 2008 5:00PM

This is the REAL reason why they locked the US forums. You know damn well they'd be in an uproar if people weren't gagged.
cian Nov 12th 2008 5:14PM
You know, I think that you might just be on to something!
Remorse Nov 12th 2008 5:04PM
God-frickin-damnit i should've ordered off the net, stupid store won't open for another hour :p
Kat Nov 12th 2008 5:06PM
Yes it official, and a Blizzard CM said:
You may also need to restart your game client.
As to Northrend being accessible, remember that there are different time zones even in Europe.

Damn wow, has me reinstalling atm cus of corrupt .mpq files and crap....
Tho my mate told me the Howling Fjords are WAY more crowded then the Tundra on Frostmane (eu)
Rymdko Nov 12th 2008 5:14PM
That's not true at all, right now on Frostmane-EU it's 49+ people in the Tundra and about 16+ people in the Fjord.

I am the guy at the picture... It felt weird being alone there. For 10 minutes or so I was the only one running around there.
Lashay Nov 12th 2008 5:15PM
Seems like just yesterday that I had stood in line at Gamestop at midnight to get my copy of Burning Crusade. Flying mounts and Outland was all just a dream.
Now its as worn out as a Vegas 'escort'.
I hope that in 2 years [when they release "The Emeral Dream" expansion with a level cap of 90] I feel as nostalgic about WoTLK as I do about TBC.
Nolard Nov 12th 2008 5:20PM
Confermed i'm sat in SW while my giuildies acivemnts for northred proffesion tick through ...dam the non delivery of my game QQ moan moan and all the other things :(
Muse Nov 12th 2008 5:18PM
Lo and behold, the European realms finally get acknowledged as existing. Why are you surprised? Europe *is* several timezones ahead of North America. That people would start making DKs there first, is logical.
Schadow Nov 12th 2008 6:08PM
Actually it would be logical that the Oceanics have them first, since we in New Zealand are currently 18 hours ahead of US Eastern time.
Unfortunately, Bliz has decided that Oceania should get the screw again, so we can't actually purchase the game until midnight here, 6 hours after you get to hit Northrend in the States.
Magrresha Nov 12th 2008 5:19PM
I was expecting the Russian servers to go ahead earlier, but not the others (although the CMs did mention it as a possibility).
I was lucky enough to be the first person in Northrend on my server (as I was clever and decided to relog when the zeppelin arrived as a complete surprise) - and the only person there for about 10 minutes. Nevertheless, trying to listen to a conversation between Saurfang and Hellscream is difficult when you're being bombarded by whispers.
I'm not a fast leveller though, so I'll soon be left behind. But anyway, this is my server first!
