Yeah, it's a shame. And then, when they are all level 80 they are complaining that there is not enough content.
Some people don't even read the quests, they just look up the title in Wowhead (or use addons doing even that for them), go to the coordinates and start to kill/collect/whatever. Blizzard are putting so much effort into creating atmospheric quests and environments and then players just race through it. The question is why? You don't have any advantage by leveling faster, except for questionable "first kills", but really: who cares about that?
Just the other day when we started a retro raid to MC and we were waiting in Blackrock Mountain someone in my guild "discovered" that the middle "isle" in the mountain (the one with the path leading down to BRD) was held in place by chains held by giant dwarf carvings in the rock. He used to raid MC for over a year and never bothered to look at the environment. It's so sad.
