Wrath of the Lich King: Paladin roundup

STATE OF THE CLASS
- Because Patch 3.0.3 is practically Wrath of the Lich King, our coverage of Paladin changes during Patch 3.0.3 should get you up to speed with the state of the class before you step out into the cold.
- There were definitely a lot of changes, so you just might want to review how Paladins got hammered repeatedly -- kind of like being forged into shape, really -- right before launch. There were some expected nerfs, and a few unexpected ones. But even though we got hit bad by the nerf bat, Blizzard still promises some love sometime soon.
- No matter what happens, though, I really think that this new age of play is a Paladin's time to shine.
- Of course, before Patch 3.0.3 came along, there was the massive, game-changing Patch 3.0.2, and we covered the changes to the Holy tree, as well as the great new Protection tree, and of course, the extremely popular Retribution tree.
- Allison's Dungeoneering post isn't specifically for Paladins, but there's good advice for everyone who plays one. If a Paladin is your main, level him or her to 80 first. You're going to want to skip ahead of the plate-grab when Death Knights burst onto the scene.
- Lastly, you might want to check out some reviews on a couple of new skills available to you in Wrath, such as The Art of War and Divine Storm.

That's a bunch of bull. Wrath is live in EUROPE yes, but wowinsider has already noted that.
It's not live yet.

people say paladins got nerfed, but they weren't suppose to be like that in the first place. so its just balance.
Dever Nov 12th 2008 9:17PM
They were placed a certain spot, albeit a little overpowered. They were brought down to par with other classes, some may go as far to say a few things are still shaky. End result they were nerfed for the sake of balance. Nerf being the keywork MiRK

= Ret paladins are now DeathKnights.

"By now you should really have gotten over the spate of nerfs to the class,"
"how Paladins got hammered repeatedly -- kind of like being forged into shape, really"
Blizzard's check arrived in the mail, huh? How much cash did it take for you to completely write off all the valid concerns raised by people in response to the nerfs in exchange for rampant butt-kissing?

My main was a Holy Pally. But with all the changes that have occurred and going to occur, I just don't see wanting to start leveling him. Having my PvE Holy change, especially for the worse, because of PvP ret issues just makes me angry and the point of a game is to have fun. It used to be fun. Oh well, lets see if things settle down and aren't too horrible.

YAYA! roll the dice

Right and the fact that holy damage is 1/4 what it was in BC is not a concern?
Paladins need alot of work to be competitive across specs.

They say they loves us, then they hit us with a bat, but say they will make it up to us. We want to believe them, so we agree to stay.
Paladins have a lot in common with abused housewives.

Hey, guess what I'm not doing right now? Standing in line to buy Wrath, that's what. Why not? Because 3.0 was supose to be giving us a taste of what Wrath will be like, and all I tasted was blood, my own blood. When has blizz ever made good on a promise like this? Never. Ret will always be lolret in end game because anything else is offensive to the blessed classes.

How much heroin did you have to inject to be able to say that without wanting to hit yourself for lying?

I'm right with you Alkaios! Holy leveling ftw!
I've been holy through the roller coaster that was "paladin fixes" ... I have enjoyed playing him so much that he is now my main character over a warlock and rogue.
Who knew raiding was going to be so enjoyable?
Aramaethien Nov 14th 2008 2:44PM
I am still enjoying all the paladin changes.
