I loved the immersion -- and the opportunity to actively take part IN that immersion, for RP-niks; I had the good fortune to be with the group waiting somewhat excitedly, somewhat dubiously for a potential attack on Stormwind Harbor -- and just as many were giving up, *it hit*. But I wanted more lore, more crescendo, more Arthus appearing in the harbor (or a projection of him) 100' tall thrashing Frostmourne and declaring us all doomed, then having to run like heck from the tsunami he generated with a single mighty sweep of the great blade... etcetera, etcetera, et al. I just wanted more, and though I didn't realize it until I read the article, I *did* want there to be some massive blow that would make us rise up to demand justice. Maybe he'd erect a statue of himself in Orgimmar. Maybe he'd split Stormwind the way Silvermoon City has been seared by the Scar. Maybe he'd just blow Stormwind Keep off its foundation into rubble. I don't know, but that would have been the lore-blow necessary to drive every last hero and antihero onto the boats over to Northrend.
I loved it. I wanted more. I hope Blizzard realizes this is one of their huge competitive advantages and keeps doing these kinds of things to stay on top in the new competitive MMORPG landscape -- because that's what will keep my friends and me here.
