If you liken WoW to a real world, then the events did make a certain amount of sense. When a flu outbreak occurs in the real world...there is no warning, no indication of how big it will be, or how long it will last. Why should there be one in a similar event in WoW??? I for one liked the event as something new and novel....sure, they have hopefully learned to manage these types of events against the servers and such, but with the living and breathing WoW environment, they can't always predict the outcome of everything. As one of the writers mentioned above, it would have been nice to have more interaction to 'curing' the plague.....bringing herbs/bandages to Shattrath, making special holy relics by different professions, etc. Building up a critical mass of products to wipe out the invasion similar to unlocking AQ and Sunwell Island. This would have also allowed players a way to monitor progress on each server to guess when the invasion would be concluded.
but the biggest QQ has to be server instability....the best event we can ever dream of would have still been terrible if we don't get to experience it.
