One additional point to your Timing reference - it happened during the Halloween event also.

As a casual player, I enjoy these events. This year, the Achievements were also in place at this time, so working on the Hallow's End achievements as well as enjoying the event was 'crashed' by the zombie invasion, making all 3 less enjoyable to me.

Too much, all at once.
