What level are you?
I think it's safe to say a good chunk of us have been able to play Wrath at least a little bit by now. What do you think? How's your leveling going? I managed to hit level 72 yesterday before I retired for the night, and while I'm not leveling as quickly as I'd like, I've deemed my progress acceptable. I did some pretty serious beta testing during the Wrath beta, so I've quested through every single Northrend zone already. While I love the content and don't really mind doing it a second time, I'll admit that Nymh's accomplishment makes me a little jealous. At least that way if I could finish up with my main in a day or two, I could go right into my alts (who I didn't get to play much in the beta) until my friends caught up. It'd make things feel a little more new to me than they are. That's not really something I'm able to do though, so level 72 it is. I'm going to aim for a level a day, and if I manage something at least close to that I'll be happy. Do we have anyone nearing 80, or in the high-70s reading WoW Insider this morning? My server has a few already, so it wouldn't surprise me much at all!

70, waiting on the delivery still Q.Q
Don't want to play w/o Wrath anyways, so.
Domai Nov 14th 2008 9:40AM
Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but in 8 hours of questing yesterday I barely hit 71. It might have been the constant ganking (it's hard out here for a priest) or something else, but I'm going far slower than I wanted to.

Hey don't be sad... I won't ding until January.
Nick S Nov 14th 2008 11:13AM
It took me about 6 hours to ding 71, leveling with a buddy at the fastest pace I could.
The levels are just long. I'm halfway through 72-73, and I've done little besides play, sleep, and eat thanks to a day off of work.

I was excited when I picked up Wrath at the store. Then, after couple hours of questing, I realized how cruel the capitolist corporation Activision/Blizzard is.
We are victims of a subscription based game. They want us to play this game for as long as humanly possible. If it was ultimately up to them (Blizzard), they would want us to level for the next year and not start end gaming until Nov. 2009
Questing just isn't fun. I couldn't imagine questing without mods like Questhelper.
Exp points are completely out of wack too. You can run 4 quests, kill 50 mobs and increase EXP by 2% ? Are you kiding me?
Its almost a 5% Exp gain to 1 hour ratio when u factor in things like travel time and waiting for groups. Lets do some math shall we?....
100% = 20 hours /level
10 levels
200 hours till 80?
Figure an average 5 hours/day of playing time.
Were looking at 40-50 days from now till most have hit 80.
Please, correct me if Im wrong. I dont want to play this game for 3 months without having it mean something. By "mean something", I mean level 80.
I havent spoken to 1 person that is enjoying this horsesht. If you are enjoying it, you need to have an MRI and CAT Scan imediately.

That toon did not do quests..Look at their rep on the armory!!!
o.o I smeels a cheat!
Aggie Nov 16th 2008 1:40PM
Yeah I don't know why either but I'm still only 71 , even though I've been playing for one and a half days already...
But I think it's better to enjoy getting there than to tread like an addict x) .
Good luck to everyone in levelling and HAVE FUN! It's only a game ^^
xx

72 :-D

Wow, Insano, that is way, way off.
You're looking at 1.5 million XP per level (for both levels 71 and 72) and 20,000+ XP per significant quest turnin. That means ~75 quests per level, assuming you get XP only from quest turnins. I find that I typically earn between 10,000 and 20,000 additional XP while performing most quests, so let's say an average of 15,000 additional XP per quest, further reducing the number to ~43 (full-blown 20k XP) quests per level.
I've completed 158 quests (according to my statistics tracker, and counting quests that give less XP) in a total of about 17 hours /played, so at that rate I'd be getting one level per less than 5 hours. Since some of those quests grant less XP, the rate is slower, and in practice I've found that each level is taking me an average of 5.5 hours.
I'm leveling either alone or with one friend, using no quest addons except DoubleWide, and finding my objectives by careful reading of the quest text (shockingly effective, as it turns out.) I've also run three instances, with the wipes and such that come along with that.

@ Insano
You math is waaaaaaaayyy wrong, and your doing it wrong.
1 level = about 10 or 20 quests
10 or 20 quests = 3 hours
3 hours = 1 level

Insano:
1) Some people enjoy it. If you don't, quit. No one is forcing you to play the game. I hear Counterstrike is a good game for no-brainers. If you can insult people that enjoy one of the largest aspects of the game, so can others.
2) You are doing it wrong. You do know that there are lvl 80's already, within 48 hours after release?
Nightmareic Nov 14th 2008 9:40AM
71 on my hunter :]
Verymad Nov 14th 2008 9:41AM
70!!!! i hate the damn preorder!!!
Anuine Nov 14th 2008 10:00AM
Oh God, I understand your distress !
I preordered on Amazon just to avoid the frustation I got with GTA4 (being unavailable everywhere in Paris)
However, I got it only this morning, just before leaving for work.
It's hard for my nerves when I recall that when I went for some shopping on the nov 12, it was already on sale, and people were already in northrend @ 10pm on that night (2 hours before the official launch time in my country). Basically, I lost 48 hours.
But thanks to those guys, I saw thunderbluff totally empty, shattrah totatlly empty and quel'danas totally empty, with a ping of 64 ms instead of the 200+ ms I usually get.
So I suppose it was worth it :)
JPN Nov 14th 2008 9:41AM
I'm not jealous at all. Why rush through everything? Won't get this experience for a while...but to each his own I guess. I'm three bubbles into 70, lol
ravenice Nov 14th 2008 9:43AM
seconded.
king0lag Nov 14th 2008 9:44AM
I'm 3 bubbles in as well. I just couldn't get into leveling quite yet.
Jamesisgreat Nov 14th 2008 10:17AM
Ditto - I don't understand the rush to 80 myself. We've just finished months of sitting around at end game and people are hurrying to get back to it?
steve Nov 14th 2008 10:38AM
Ditto, I want the new content to last. I've got three 70s, so I may not feel that way by the time I get to the third one, but the only thing I'm anxious about is when I need to get to 80 to start raiding again with my guild (I was taking care of a sick relative for the first two months when BC came out, it took me a long time to "catch up" to the guild). Based on the number of folks in my guild who created Death Knights instead of playing on their mains, I figure I've got plenty of time.
Rob Nov 14th 2008 12:31PM
I wonder what percentage of the population even have the game in hand at this point? I don't, i have one copy waiting in the apt. office, i have another coming from amazon in a week (which sucks, but they shipped one copy early, thought they would do the same on the other one). Anyway...yeah slow down people. Its not a race. The pixelated mobs aren't going to be impatient that you took off a week or two before slaughtering them.
