WoW Moviewatch: The Lonely Monster

As a good friend of mine says, "Oh my god, the cute! It burns!" That might not be the most professional opening to my blurb on today's WoW Moviewatch, but it certainly was what I was thinking the entire time I was watching The Lonely Monster by Ollgabopi.
The animation is smooth and simple; there's no doubt about what each character is feeling. The music is absolutely appropriate, though I don't know if the creator meant for it to be quite that melancholy. The story and presentation is a little bit of a trope, but the overall effect is that much stronger since it draws on what we already know and feel about this situation. A lonely, friendly monster just wants to be accepted. It's not rocket science, and Ollgabopi lets the music and animation support the emotions of the sequence.
I was a little bit disappointed not to have more catharsis at the end, but I think as a piece of stand-alone art "The Lonely Monster" is very strong.

1:51 - What the hell?
Anyway, this was kinda.. meh. The music did fit in but it was boring and some of the expressions made on the characters looked funky.

I agree the expressions were awful and it was boring. The worst part is it was so darn sad. :(

This was horrible. The only thing I can assume is he edited the still frames in photoshop or something to create some of the expressions.. and it didn't work, to say the least..
on another note..

catharsis? Stand-Alone Art? We're talking about a wow movie about a yeti.. not Citizen Kane!
did that yeti just mouth the word "Rosebud?"

I was kinda shocked this was featured... must have been a slow week. I can relate to the whole "artiste" thing, but this felt like leftover mashpotatoes to me.

Please don't put flash videos on the front page of wowinsider.com - thats the reason I stopped going to mmo-champion.com. They use a lot of bandwidth to download, some of them download the whole video even if you dont press play, and every time you reload the page they redownload the whole video.
Please put the flash video players towards the end of the article, so they don't appear on the front page.
