Just an hour ago, we reported that über mutant guild conglomerate
TwentyFifthNovember, a merger of two of the world's bleeding edge guilds -- SK Gaming and Nihilum --
beat the 'entry-level' raid of Naxxramas. This was fast, although not entirely unexpected considering that Naxxramas was an old-world raid that was retuned for 25-man (and 10-man) content. However, TwentyFifthNovember's website reports that they have also defeated Malygos, currently the end, and
supposedly most difficult, boss of current
Wrath of the Lich King content (Icecrown and Arthas will be accessible in a future patch). Their website says
'soon...' but I didn't take that to mean
'right now'.
This means that within three days of the game's launch, a guild has leveled to max level (although some members of the raid were below 80) and defeated all available raid content. While Blizzard has admitted to tuning the game to become more accessible to more players, or a more casual audience, TwentyFifthNovember's defeat of all PvE content available in the current game brings into question just how tuned down PvE content has become. It will be interesting to see how long it will take another Guild to clear through all of Northrend. Congratulations, TwentyFifthNovember! You can now all go an play Guitar Hero. Or something.

Grats to them, I guess. Myself, I'm enjoying the game at my own pace.
Heilig Nov 15th 2008 4:07PM
You folks realize that every single one of these people was in the beta, right? They took their time in the beta learning where everything was and hiow the fights played out specifically so they could do this. They took their time already.
Look at it this way: Do you go out of your way to enjoy the scenery and flavor text when you level an alt? Of course not. You've already done it once, you just want the cherry at the end.
These guys got their cherry.

This is painful. I'm not sure anything needs to be done, but it's very, very painful.

Zodiac on Kirin Tor killed Makygos earlier tonight as well, I believe.
insane....

I'm wondering if this has Blizzard smacking their foreheads for not making the gear jump as big from TBC to WotLK as it was from vanilla to TBC.
Damntheman Nov 15th 2008 4:30PM
This is a good thing. In TBC everyone was still hung up on gear. I can't even remember how many of my guild's first were made after a "last try" call. Now maybe people will realize it's only their suck holding them back. The gear is decoration, put some bloody effort into your raiding and it's easy as piss.

This feat doesn't point to a problem with Blizzard "tuning down" the game. I just means that there are people out there (like this guild conglomerate) that probably should spend more time away from the game. The rest of us are still enjoying content, often on multiple characters, and are cruising at level 71 or 72 at the moment. In my opinion, it isn't Blizzard's job to keep these "top-end" players from experiencing "all PVE content" within three days. These guys are merely anomalies among the millions of other WOW players around the world.
Mephator Nov 15th 2008 2:49PM
Well said. Why should Blizzard spend the time and effort and money to make a whole expansion difficult for 2% of the WoW population at the expense of making it nearly impossible for the other 98%?
nist7 Nov 15th 2008 2:54PM
QFT.
But what annoys me to no end is their insult against us "casuals." For example, on their homepage, they have a little paragraph explaining their concern for how easy they cleared the end-game content:
"he question in all our minds right now is if we could do this, how soon until the rest of the top guilds in the world clear all the raid content that WOTLK has to offer? Did Blizzard miscalculate in the tuning of these encounters? Or is this Blizzard folding under the weight of a large casual player base that demands to be on equal footing with end-game raiders?"
The more I think about it....the more I realize that the guys in these two top-end guilds are probably incredibly egocentric....I mean it's like they cannot stand to see "casuals" killing the same bosses as they do. They feel entitled to content that's *so* difficult that only they would be able to successfully clear it because they probably spend 10+ hours a day playing WoW...

Ok I got my game midnight launch and, mainly because of work, I just dinged 71 an hour ago. But I have enjoyed every minute of it. The quests really are more fun this time, with lots of fun little twists to them to make them refreshing. Riding a harpoon down to the keep is one of my all time favorite lol moments in the game.
"Svenhoek, you are seriously sick in the head. What kind of depraved human being rides a harpoon for transport!"
PeeWee Nov 15th 2008 4:37PM
"...that probably should spend more time away from the game..."
When you are paying for their accounts you may tell them what to do with their time. Until then, shut your cakehole.
Elwoods Nov 15th 2008 4:46PM
These are alos the people who will complain when they say there is no more content for them to play with.
*sheesh*
then again I'm an alt-a-holic who is trying to get 3 70s through the xpac!! :)

kinda dumb. They're still the hardcore players and thus will be the ones most likely to be the world first of any raid encounters. Casuals will be killing them as easily, but never will these casuals beat them at the 'first!' game.
Isn't that all that matters?
Agelamer Nov 16th 2008 1:10PM
Why would I not want the game to be built to my specifications? I, as a consumer, want the best product for ME. I am sighing over the fact that the game is not the best it could be for ME. I care nothing for you, or your enjoyment of the game.
Badger Nov 20th 2008 9:54PM
"When you are paying for their accounts you may tell them what to do with their time."
Your argument is largely invalid as these Guilds don't pay for their own accounts. They are "sponsored," meaning that they have ridiculous brand endorsements to pay for their non-stop "professional" gaming habits.
Casey Pierce Nov 28th 2008 1:39PM
This is what SK and Nihilum do for a living dude, they play video games
Jack Spicer Nov 15th 2008 2:42PM
I found this on MMO-Champion
"Below is a small statement from their site.
We are proud to declare that all WOTLK PVE raid content has now been cleared. This is both a moment of triumph and a cause for concern. The question in all our minds right now is if we could do this, how soon until the rest of the top guilds in the world clear all the raid content that WOTLK has to offer? Did Blizzard miscalculated in the tuning of these encounters? Or is this Blizzard folding under the weight of a large casual player base that demands to be on equal footing with end-game raiders?"
Mephator Nov 15th 2008 2:46PM
Their "worrying" is nothing but posturing, I doubt they actually care. WotLK could have shipped with 60 new raids and they would still have completed them at record pace because that's apparently their goal in life and they would still have complained that there wasn't enough.
Burgdorn Nov 15th 2008 2:50PM
I wouldn't say that this is a very big deal, your talking about a merger of the two most successful guilds in WoW's History. The fact that they are also sponsored means that for them it is more of a job. They don't just want to beat the game, they're paid to. So I would say that the worst part of this is that the idea of getting a world first, ever, is pretty much a mute point by now, they will. I think that regular raiders will enjoy the content at their own pace, and the only real issue now their value to the community. I mean they have no competition at this stage, and once they get fully geared, then what? Arena's they will be by far the most advanced group you will find.
Over all though, if they begin to hold this monopoly I wonder if people will care much longer, or will we all begin to just wonder who is the second or more legitimate group going into the next tier.
svenhoek Nov 15th 2008 4:03PM
For one, how much stuff gets added in content patches? Alot thats how much. These guys did something crazy and downed the last boss of a work in progress. No one was supposed to get that far that fast. No one can plan for entire guilds running trhough content 24 hours a day. If they did, the game would be so hard to the rest of us NORMAL raiders that it would put us all off. These are the two best guilds in the world merged into one. These are the guys in Everquest that did the 16 hour boss that was programmed to be IMPOSSIBLE for characters to bring down. Games shouldnt be built to these peoples specifications.
