World first Level 80 Death Knight?

It's quite apparent that the early launch of the game in European realms proved to be too much of a hurdle for US realm-based players as most major achievements were obtained by European players such as the first player to Level 80, and even the mastery of all current PvE content. With most world first and realm first Achievements getting snapped up, it looks as though it'll soon be time for most players to settle into a more comfortable groove. That is, um, maybe actually enjoying the scenery.

"That is, um, maybe actually enjoying the scenery."
Oh noes someone enjoyed the game in a different way than me! He can always go back and smell the roses. Can only be the first lvl 80 DK once. :P

I wish the server firsts weren't announced and crammed down my face that someone powerleveled their character because of an achievement that no one will later remember.
*Breathe*
When someone levels to 80 AND is the first to clear all quests as a result of that, then I'll congratulate them.
About Enjoying the game their way- Yeah, that's enjoying the game a different way, but I really doubt power leveling and getting no sleep is really enjoying the game - but hey, whatever excuse floats your boat.)

This post is not a flame of the first level 80 Death Knight.
No.
It is not.
Tethik Nov 15th 2008 3:16PM
I used to play on that server :o
Mark Turpin Nov 15th 2008 4:59PM
I do play on that server! This guy will be ganking me soon! Awesome!

So many World first 80, world first this and that...
ffs not sleeping and playing nonstop shouldent be encouraged and made so famous that people will fall into getting something first..
I am in a Top guild but i still dont put my effort into becoming first. At the end of the day its a game and playing it to a limit acceptable and not playing it nonstop and causing health problems due to gaining E-Fame for being world first..
I congratulate him but thats my opinion :D
Darkharmony Nov 15th 2008 5:34PM
I agree, this stuff really shouldn't be encouraged but oh well. Regardless it's nice to be first but you need friends at 80 for it to be worth anything.
Eli Nov 17th 2008 6:36AM
/agree.
Blizz must've forgotten about the guy in South Korea who died after playing WoW for too long...TBH, I'm surprised it hasn't already happened after hearing all this "World First..." crap.

That is a sweet looking rune mod in that screenshot. Wonder what it is...

I use Magic Runes (http://www.wowace.com/projects/magicrunes/) myself, with no bars, but just a counter and a flash on the runes in side my HUD.

I'm getting really tired of hearing about the world firsts. Not that I think WowInsider should stop... I mean, it's their business. But I think I'm going to stop reading about them.
Jack Spicer Nov 15th 2008 4:39PM
I'm just ecstatic that everyone shut up about pally changes for a while.
Zach Nov 15th 2008 3:16PM
Well, it's really not like we get world firsts every week or something. I reckon that after this weekend, we won't be having any more 'firsts' worth noting.
Tumleren Nov 15th 2008 3:29PM
It kinda annoys me to see how america's excuse for not getting wold firsts is being based on ONLY having to do with the time-difference.
I can accept it when it comes to leveling, but how about researching when the first US hit 80? If it's later than the time-difference between EU and US, then it's got nothing to do with that.
It really bother me, though, that you can say that this also goes for downing bosses. I didn't expect WowInsider to be this one-sided. Has SK been mere hours after Nihilum in downing bosses first? Or have they not been a day after them? Think about those things before you basically start a war against EU on his subject and come up with excuses for you not being first.
Zach Nov 15th 2008 3:31PM
It's kind of a big deal when the difference between firsts, particularly in levels, is mere hours. Nobody notes 2nd place.
This is very true, specially pre-nerf BC raids, when EU beat US guilds by mere hours owing to the time differential. It has happened before, although TwentyFifthNovember's Achievement will go unmatched for some time, I think.
AutumnBringer Nov 15th 2008 3:31PM
"Think about those things before you basically start a war against EU on his subject"
Hear that guys? You may have inadvertently started WW3 with your article!
I knew WoW was popular, but starting wars that's something new ... wait - is that a world first? If so, does it count as a US world first since the game is made by Blizzard in California?
Tumleren Nov 15th 2008 4:36PM
@ Zach
But what about the BC raids? How big was the difference then? (I actually don't know)
@AutumnBringer
Yea...hah... Noticed i said "On this subject" ?
Funny though...Yea

Also considering the time difference, I read somewhere that people were picking up the xpac in Berlin and were able to start playing at 10PM instead of midnight in Europe. I do not know the time differences but that would make it 10hours early not 8.
And I think it should be based off of time in time zone. The europeans getting an 8 hours jumpstart will only encourage the US players to go without sleep and less breaks. Hence causing health issues that make news and making us look bad.
I actually just started the leveling past 70 last night to avoid the rush/overcrowding/lag and am glad I did. I was able to spend some time on alts and get them ready for nerthrend, which also made me excited to play my main again.
