Breakfast Topic: What did you level first?
Our topic for today comes from one of our readers, Grindal. He (she? Sorry!) wrote in suggesting we ask all of you a question. What did you level first? Did you level your main right away? Did you try out an alt in Northrend? Did you roll a Death Knight? Heck, is your new Death Knight your new main?Personally, I went straight to my main. No questions about it. I hit the Howling Fjord and started questing like crazy. Eventually I rolled my Death Knight with the name I had been reserving for months now, but I didn't really play it at all. I just wanted to start accumulating rest. That's about all I did on all of my alts, actually. I made sure my 70s were in inns. That's it. Beyond that, it's been all Shadow Priest all the time. I was lucky in that I got into Northrend a little bit ahead of the crowds, so I'm usually a zone ahead of most people. I just finished the Dragonblight last night just as the masses rolled in, and now I have the Grizzly Hills more or less to myself. Once people start flooding that zone, I'll be over in Zul'Drak.
How are things going for all of you?

... I dont see an option for "I don't have Wrath but don't for a reason so i wouldnt cry myself to sleep", some of us [me included] have only just reached 70 and i want to stay and enjoy tbc content for a while instead of skipping past it all, whats the rush to hit 80 so quickly:S?

I rolled a DK immediately, got her to lvl 58, just to go through the new starting area, and check out the new class. I was enthralled by the story, and seeing the phasing first hand was incredible.
I recommend everyone who can Roll a DK and at least get past the classes starting quests to experience it. It was well worth it IMHO>
Now I'm grinding my Main - a BE Mage up to 80.

I don't really consider myself as having a main. I just play whatever I feel like playing at the time. I leveled a warlock first but then hit 70 and stopped playing hime. Then leveled a rogue and had alot of fun with him, hit 70 and stopped playing him. Then leveled a priest and hit 70 on release day and stopped playing him.
I'll start leveling my rogue first but I also have my warlock out in borean tundra and may just flip flop between the two until i'm bored and then break out the priest.
Or leveling a death knight or my pally.

Everytime I get on my main, my friend bugs me to play my DK with him. At this point it will prolly be the first char I get to 80. No complaints here though.
Frat Nov 16th 2008 1:22PM
im lvling both my chars at the same time.... when one becomes unrested... i get on the other.. best way to do it if you have more than one char that you plan on getting to 80!

I leveled an alt for about 2 quests and then hopped back on my rogue and proceeded to get him up to 71 before creating a DK.

The first thing I did was create my 5 death knights and started multiboxing them.
Here is a video.

My idea going in was to create a deathknight, look at it in the character creation screen, go "oooh pretty", then start leveling my main and go back to the deathknight when i was burnt out.
I created my deathknight, went "ooh, they have new skins for deathknights" and decided to check it out in game. Arthas was there and he told me to do things. 4 hours later I came out of a haze in Stonard and *then* went to play my main.

Went with leveling my prot warrior first over my main (enhancement shaman) because i knew there was gonna be a massive shortage of tanks in the beginning, plus none of my friends were leveling a tank, so it'll be nice to start the heroic farming early

as for the ninjaing: Tag it, bag it, move on.
Artemizz Nov 16th 2008 4:13PM
where's the DK option?
that's what I did first.
Such an epic story during those first few levels.

I decided to level my Priest first. With all the Death Knights and all the classes that CAN'T heal, not leveling my healer first would just be plain stupid. Course, he IS Shadow for that (now) 72-80 grind, but I swear my Priest, Jeasus, will be healing soon enough.

I wasn't sure how to answer!
My main up until now has been a moonkin druid, but I've been seriously thinking about making my prot pally my main -- tired of the competitive dps penis waggling and don't like tanking or healing on a druid. I levelled my paladin to 70 over the last few months with my best friend, who was levelling a holy priest at the same time for the same reason as me. (Her old main is a mage.)
Our system for Northrend has been to play the druid and mage when we're on alone, and the paladin and priest when we're on together ... but we're both on SO much because it's just that awesome that my paladin is seeing a LOT more airtime lately. And honestly, I'm having a lot more fun with him. I just like tanking better than dps and do you have any idea just how easy it is to get an instance group if you just join general and say "need 3 dps for utgarde"?
But I still haven't decided if he's going to be my main or not. So I didn't know how to vote.
Long answer to say absolutely nothing.

I levelled a DK to 58 on both of my accounts and then started in on my main which as of writing has hit 74 and done the Dalaran access quest.

TBH, because of the flux Paladins have been in since 3.0.2, I've started levelling my DK as fast as I can. I hate to be the cliche, but my DK is everything I wanted my Paladin to be, and then some. So I told my Guild Leader, when I hit 70 with my DK, that will be my new main for Wrath. Given the playstyle of DK's, and the riot of fun I've had frost-tanking instances through BC, I'm hoping it continues beyond BC and into the WOTLK content. My only complaint so far is Frost Immune = T3h Suck for me. :(

I'm leveling my hunter main first. He's had a nice vacation for a few months after I quit raiding while I leveled up a few alts to 70. But now he's back in action and shooting new and exotic things in ne and exotic locations. He's up to 72 now (He'd be higher, but I had to work late every day since the release.) and he'll likely be at 73 tonight (or as close as I can before I have to sleep.)
I was tempted to level my mage to 71 first so I could to scope out Dalaran before it is too full, but my desire to level my hunter was too high.
Also spent part of a night in the DK starting zone. I'm tempted to level my DK through Outland, but I'm going to give it a few weeks before I do that. It was both interesting and a bit disturbing how many Death Knights were all in Hellfire Peninsula at the same time on the first couple nights.

Took my main (prot Warrior) around for a few quests before running Nexus & UK on the first day/night of release...
Unlike some people who waited in lines here in Australia to get their game I had my girlfriend download it from Bliz as soon as the game went live then baught my CD Key from one of those nice wesites that offers such a service...
I got home from work with literally just a handful of people in Valliance Keep/Coldara and it was cruisy. Nexus was fun & UK was a pushover... and no fighting over quests!!!
Next day it was chaos and every man and his dog seamed to have decided to play on the same server; 30 minute queues (I had 2 hours yesterday! ZOMG!!!) !
Played a DK and got thru all the starter quests (I thought you looked hot to begin with, the quest rewards *drool*) and parked him in Shat for rested. My main sitting in an inn as well, waiting for friends to say they need a tank for this or that.
I'm excited about WotLK but honestly I'm not going to run around and compete with everyone for every damn quests... Time for me to go level some of my baby toons for now while everyone else is in Northrend. I want to enjoy WotLK not hate it!

My experience since installing Wrath has been interesting, and not what I expected! First thing I did after install was roll up a Death Knight and run thru the fun epic starter quests.
Then onto my main, my (only 70) warrior. Since I'd been working on getting my Kurenai rep to exalted, I figured I might as well get some XP while grinding ogres in Nagrand (I'd actually intended on finishing up the rep grind the day before, but of course the servers were down all day). Then it was off to Howling Fjord, which I've been enjoying a lot. The funny thing is that I get frustrated running out of rested XP so fast. :) Now I'm up to just a couple bars from 72.
I've actually been alternating my playtime between the warrior and my priest. I had always wanted to try leveling the priest as an instance healer but that was next to impossible in Azeroth with everyone wanting quick and easy runs thru instances. Luckily I managed to get him to 60 a week or so before WotLK and reasonably geared from the Hellfire starter quests. And I've really hit the jackpot now with getting to heal instances! I get whispers all the time for healing. So far I've done about 8 or so instance runs in HFP and Zangarmarsh. It's been a nice change and pretty enjoyable compared to the DPS monster that I usually play. I'm up to 63 now and I've also been able to get very well geared since only one run I've done has had another clothie in the group. And of course dealing with several full groups of Death Knights has been interesting, to say the least. In between instance runs I've managed to get my Jewelcrafting to over 350 so I'll be ready for Northrend.

I've been playing my main which is a mage since I've installed it last Saturday (Friday for you yanks). She's already 71 and halfway through dinging 72. Woot woot!
So far no one's ganked me in Borean Tundra, everyone seems to be nice to each other. I wanted to test the waters so I walked near a quest area surrounded by 4 horde, I sat there with half hp/half mp...NO ONE TOUCHED ME! We were all waiting in turns to take on the mob that spawns! FKN AWESOME!
Wish it was like this all the time. =p
But that's wishful thinking. Hehehe
