The Queue: Leveling, bug reports and the Scourgeborne

Andrew asked...
For those of us who won't be able to play Wrath for a while still, what would be the best route to catch up with everyone and get into raiding as quickly as possible?
Just quest, really. Finding a good place to grind out mobs can technically be better XP per hour, but really, that's a horrible way to experience the expansion your first time through. Most of the people that did it that way (such as Nymh) did it after they'd already seen all of the leveling content in the Wrath beta. Just quest. The order I did zones in is this: Howling Fjord, Dragonblight, Grizzly Hills, Zul'Drak, Sholazar Basin until you hit 77, then get Cold Weather Flying and move on to Storm Peaks or Icecrown until 80. Exchange Howling Fjord for Borean Tundra if you want. I just went with the Fjord personally because it had fewer people.

Just wondering if the Death Knight will be getting tier armor sets. I can't see any information floating about. Would seem like a bit of a jip if they didn't though...
They won't retroactively have sets added to places like Molten Core or Black Temple, but they do have sets in the new dungeons, certainly. Their Tier 7 is called Scourgeborne. Heroes' Scourgeborne is the 10-man set and Valorous Scourgeborne is the 25-man set. They share tokens just like everyone else. Since that makes the tokens uneven, two with three classes and one with four classes, the odd one out has a slightly higher droprate to compensate.
As a sidenote, the word you're looking for is 'gyp' and it's actually a racial slur! I didn't know that until recently myself, and I've since stopped using it. It's one of those words that has sort of lost its insulting intent over the years, but there are still people out there who would get offended and be insulted, even if you don't mean it that way. I'm not your father/mother, so use the word if you want. I just wanted to stick my nose in, in case you didn't know!
Genkitty asked...
What happened to my Seal/Judgement of the Crusader, the one that upped holy damage on the target? It was my bread and butter Judgement and I miss it.
You don't need it anymore! The damage boost that the Judgement gave has been rolled into your spells baseline. The amount of damage they would have done with Judgement of the Crusader before is how much damage they do now without it.
Lian asked...
Is there any sign of Dungeon Set blues in Wrath? Sets that function similar to the dungeons sets of WoW vanilla and BC, before players move onto tiered armor?
Nope, there aren't any class-specific dungeon sets this time around. Which is probably for the best, nobody actually collected those for any purpose beyond, "It's my class set!" Getting a bunch of Druid pieces when you don't have a Druid is annoying, too. The good news is that the entry level raids, Naxxramas, Eye of Eternity and Obsidian Sactum? They're all really, really easy (though the Sanctum can be harder if you want). If you want a class set just for the sake of having a class set, you can do that. If you just want good gear, the blues that everyone can use will do you perfectly.
It is fun to complete a set, my Priest has kept every single set she's completed since Devout, but the 5-man class sets have become sort of... unnecessary.
Flamewhisker asked...
I don't know about other realms, but Kilrogg has had a bad problem with bugged/broken quests. Do you have any info on whether Blizz is aware of the extent of the problem and what they're going to do about it?
If you run into bugs, report those bugs. GM tickets, the various support forums depending on the bug, all that stuff. If people are properly reporting bugs, that's how Blizzard becomes aware of them. I'm not Blizzard so I don't have a list of the bugs they're aware of, but I can tell you what they're going to do about it! They'll fix them as soon as they're able. Certain quests have been hotfixed already, and the ones they can't hotfix will probably be fixed in the next patch.

When a Death Knight uses the spell Lichborne http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=49039 does his creature id (humanoid, beast, dragonkin, etc) change to reflect this?
For example, could a Paladin use Turn Evil or a Priest use Shackle to affect the Lichborne-using Death Knight?
Etrusca Nov 17th 2008 11:20AM
I don't know this for sure, but I would assume since it also makes the DK immune to fear, charm and sleep, that Turn Evil and Shackle Undead will not work.
Stormscape Nov 17th 2008 11:40AM
Actually it does. While Lichborne is active, you are undead, plain and simple. Stuff undeads are immune to can't be used on you, but anything that targets undead will hit you. This includes healing yourself with Deathcoil or getting shackled by a priest.
Sneekypeetey Nov 17th 2008 11:52AM
Nope... it doesnt actually change your character classification. It just enables an effect that keeps you from being sheeped, feared or charmed.
JuicedCardinal Nov 17th 2008 12:51PM
YES, it DOES change the DK into undead, so you can use things like Turn Undead, Shackle, and Exorcism on him.
arrogance Nov 18th 2008 1:27AM
woah... 2 say yes and 2 say no!
IM SO CONFUSED!!!! lol.
Mith Nov 18th 2008 6:04PM
it DOES change your character id to UNDEAD.
You WILL be vulnerable to Shackle Undead etc. and you WILL be immune to polymorph, bleeds(?) etc.
JPN Nov 17th 2008 11:09AM
I didn't "gather" my dungeon set but it was nice - I wore it for a long time. I'm sad they're not having them, or at least...tokens or something.
Mutak Nov 17th 2008 12:04PM
You can buy the a couple pieces of the class sets with tokens. 80 Emblems of Heroism can be exhanged for the 10-man chestpiece tokens, 60 for the 10-man glove tokens.

About reporting bugs. I did find and report one, and it was fixed less than 24 after that. Ok, maybe someone else reported it before but, regardless of the time frame, they do fix the stuff.
Butter Nov 17th 2008 11:24AM
If they fix stuff why haven't they fixed the hunter auto targeting. I have stopped playing mine and went to my pally b/c I was sick of it.
David Nov 17th 2008 11:37AM
You too, huh?

Wow. I didn't know that about that word. I guess that's another word I have to remove from my lexicon, (good thing I didn't use it that often to begin with.)
I had a question about Engineering goggles. Specifically Holy Paladin Goggles. Even more specifically, where the hell are they?
The patterns at the moment include the awesome strength and defense heavy Armored Titanium Goggles (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=42549) for tanks, and the amazing strength and crit heavy Charged Titanium Specs (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=42552) for dps. That’s all. There are no epic plate goggles with Int on them.
Am I stuck with having to make the dps goggles and tricking it out with heavy int gems (wasting the Strength stat) or am I going to have to get a raid group for Sunwell so I can farm for the pattern for T6 goggles? Or should I just go ret? (None of these options are very appealing to me.)
Sorano Nov 17th 2008 12:50PM
Honestly, I think it would be best for you to ignore crafting when looking for a viable pre-raid holy paladin head piece.
There are a lot of blue helms that can compensate before entering Naxxramas.

They also all... look the same...
ash Nov 17th 2008 1:29PM
Yeah, I noticed that too. I always liked that I could craft goggles for all three of my specs, so its disappointing they didn't follow thru in wrath with what they did in BC. Looking at all the goggle recipes, though I noticed they allow you to train all the different class of recipes (cloth, leather, mail, plate). So they do have the mail goggles for now, but thats kind of a chintzy substitute for something that would be easy to put in.
Fugmug Nov 17th 2008 1:53PM
Whoops.
You can't use 'lexicon' anymore either. It excludes people with inferior vocabularies.
And you can't call Paladins "Holy" anymore either. It offends people with different beliefs who feel that the Paladins are charlatans.
And you'll have to find another verb besides 'tricking'. It alludes to illegal activities.
And lastly, "appealing' has to go as well. If something appeals to you, you're obviously a perv.
Thanks,
Fug
Crimeny Nov 17th 2008 2:02PM
Actually no. You can only train the goggles that work for your class type. So even though I could wear the mail, leather or cloth goggles, the patterns are simply not available to me through my trainer. I can only train the plate patterns.
I've seen the holy plate helms that I can get, and while they are nice (and also ugly), I do feel a bit ripped off. I mean the goggles are one of the big selling points of engineering. I spend a lot of my time making really neat (but mostly useless) widgets all with the pay off of an uber awesome helm. That's how it was in BC.
I mean my current goggles (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32472) are T5 equivalent, and I made them at 62!
Now come WotLK, and I'm left with a choice of tanking goggles and DPS goggles? It just seems a bit short sighted to me. One of the main reasons anyone goes engineering is the goggles. It's disappointing to me that this perk is now moot just because of my spec.
Jayfitty Nov 17th 2008 11:33AM
Any spells meant for Undead such as Turn Evil, Exorcism and Shackle will work on a DK when under the effect of Lichborne.
jared.daniels Nov 17th 2008 11:37AM
Where the heck is the level 80 pvp armor located? I can't find a place to spend my honor points.

Re: bugged quests.
As a Warlock, I have discovered that it is PETS that are breaking lots of the quests and causing problems. If you have a pet, or are doing a quest with somebody that has one, be sure to put pets on PASSIVE for quests. Any quests that need you to hit something (cucoons, crystals, etc.) will not count of your pet hits/kills them.
Second, there are a number of quests/encounters where there are scripted events - sometimes where you are held inactive, but pets are not. If the pet attacks it will break the event. You may still be able to complete the quest, but not see the events play out as normal.
When doing quests other than "kill X mob", run your pet on passive and just micro him instead. It will prevent many of the "bugged" quests.
