WoW Insider speaks with Nymh, part 2

Nymh: I'm perfectly happy with my grinding speed. It was better than what I planned in the beginning. It was not really "easy," you have to consider that I was Sunwell geared (2000 spell power fully buffed definitely helps kill things faster), I hardly spammed my keyboard for 26 hours. I had the perfect spec for it... It is not something everyone could have done.
WoW Insider: Did you keep track of how much money you made grinding those trolls? I'm sure your bags get pretty full after 26 hours of nonstop killing. Did you even bother with looting?
Nymh: No loot! No time. But I made some calculations. I have killed about 20,000 trolls, and would have been looting between 5 and 22 silver... I guess I would have made more than 5k gold with all the loot (greens/whites/greys included).
WoW Insider: Do your friends and guildmates that helped you get to 80 want to add anything, especially your healer? It was really nice of them to help you out, and I definitely think they deserve some time in the spotlight as well.
Pavelomm: Thanks to Nymh for the challenge, and to everyone for your consideration. Thanks for all of the encouraging whispers during the performance. Moreover, of course, thanks to all people on forums or in whispers who seemed so worried about my real life. I accept all sort of presents, my bank account number is 0439...
See ya!
WoW Insider: Any last words from you, Nymh? Either about the leveling process, or something else entirely? Any questions that we at WoW Insider can answer for you since you were so kind as to do this for us?
Nymh: Well, if you know the next numbers at the euromillions...
WoW Insider: Let me hop in my time machine and get back to you on that. Thank you again for talking to us Nymh, and good luck on Malygos!

are the 10 mans really that easy?
Mognet T Nov 17th 2008 9:26PM
Being that SKGaming/Nhilium's new guild already cleared everything, i would assume it won't take long until we all have cleared them.

Warning: ramble incoming!
From what I saw on beta, the five mans and raids tend to the easy side. Wasn't doing them in top end gear or with MadKsillZ either. (Not gotten to try them live--UPS delivered my copy to the wrong coast, grrrr.) Part of that is players having more experience, part of that is tanks doing a ton more threat & damage, part of it is just easier in some cases. Naxx on beta was MUCH easier than Kara was at launch. Night and day. And the top guilds cleared Kara then in quest greens and blues, which leads too...
Been worried about it. Blizzard's got a looming problem. Easier content + no attunements/other blocks = significant chunk of the player base finishing content far more quickly than they've shown they can create it. Shorter boss loot tables exacerbates the problem. Not sure what they can do about it at this late date. They can't toss in a next raid that's miles tougher without making the interwebs explode. I realize their plan is to have raids that have multiple difficulty levels--they started that with ZA. All well and good (er...it's debatable) but those have got to be tougher to design so they'll still end up falling behind.
Blah blah. UPS still better find my copy !#$!@##!%!@#ing soon!
Sidenote: the emphasis on haste gear is functionally a penalty for those with high latency and/or low framerates. I've never seen that mentioned and it also worried me when they started shoveling it late in BC. I know a couple very good players who found their DPS go up by gearing against what was objectively the best [high haste] gear. They simply couldn't count on hitting procs or even casts/strikes when it all kicked in and fell back to an older style. In both cases it was definitely not a skill issue--they're both far better than I'll ever be--but were on active military deployment with iffy connections.

They're not easy. World firsts of things are not that hard when they already know the strategy from the beta! You can go look it up on wowwiki or what have you and just have to do it.
Fights such as kael thas or vashj are the type that showstop. And there aren't many of those in the early wrath stuff.

Does anyone know how much later the second lvl 80 was?
ARMORz Nov 17th 2008 9:27PM
Nymh: ding 80!
Everyone: EPIC GRATZ!
Frank Nov 17th 2008 9:55PM
just curious: i'm surprised you haven't mentioned the first to 80 stateside. i understand the focus on the world one, but what about in the US? has anyone heard who the first was in the US?
Cetha Nov 17th 2008 9:58PM
i actually would love to hear more about the healer's perspective and what it was like for him/her.

@luke
everytime i see a comment like this, all I see is Homer Simpson chanting "U.S.A......U.S.A....."
Gratz from Canada Nymh!
Well Done
Hythloth Nov 18th 2008 1:12PM
I'm a flat out (proud to be an) American, and even I think this was a bit uncalled for. Give credit where credit is due. Grats Nymh!
Clint Nov 19th 2008 9:42AM
agreed, credit where credit is due.
But didn't Europe get like a 6hour headstart? Doesn't mean anything to someone who levels as slowly as I do (dinged 71 last night), but when you are talking about 70-80 in 28hours... 6 hours is A LOT.
killu25 Nov 18th 2008 2:51PM
wow you are already raiding. I mean wtf it hasent even been a week and you did almsot every 10 man
Valross Nov 17th 2008 11:16PM
how many people were there helping him? Just the healer or a bunch of others that killed mobs after he tagged them?
Ahoni Nov 17th 2008 11:46PM
Just the healer, he killed everything himself.
BobTurkey Dec 1st 2008 2:41AM
Found a few more trolls for Nymh to kill. Shouldn't be to tough to AoE and they are to dumb to run away...
Korgull Nov 18th 2008 3:43AM
THe healer killed himself just after this interview. His depression was called Trollish Syndrome. Advisory: It is not recommended to push one macro button for 26 hours.
I am thinking about the cynic recommendation from Blizzard: //Take all things in moderation, even World of Warcraft//
There are achievements telling you to forget about moderation.... Get Crazy!
