BigRedKitty: Down elevator mammoth
Daniel Howell contributes BigRedKitty, a column with strategies, tips and tricks for and about the Hunter class, sprinkled with a healthy dose of completely improper, sometimes libelous, personal commentary.
A down elevator? Yes! Watch and see!
You are invited to download the full-sized version (13MB) here.
As always, a great big Thank You to the WoW Insider editors for allowing us to publish this movie both here and on our little blog at the same time!

Nice! is this intended to work like this ? or a bug ? lol
Balius Nov 18th 2008 9:17AM
It seems intentional; fall damage is why they gave the mammoth his own health bar. Besides, if you can mount and have the gold, you could fly down instead.
mithmorph Nov 18th 2008 9:08AM
likely enjoy that while it lasts
SINisterWyvern Nov 18th 2008 9:27AM
This is completely intentional by blizzard.
The multi-passenger mounts and many others throughout quests in wotlk are considered siege weapons. This new form of mount is intended to take the damage of all incoming hits/spells/falls etc.
The engineering motorcycle will do the same thing.

Yep, I took my chopper off of the flight point area in Dalaran in the beta. Fell for quite some time. When you land, just desummoned the mount and off I went.

Why do people think this is a bug? My guess it was done on purpose. We all saw the comic on wow.com

You know there are people that would get a kick out of racking up someone's repair build
Baalrog Nov 18th 2008 9:08AM
Seems an expensive way to get the 'going down' achievement...
Zalvi Nov 18th 2008 9:10AM
not if you a paladin..... DIVINE SHIELD FTW
MisterMoose Nov 18th 2008 9:17AM
Going down is easy to get for Alliance. Go to Telredor in Zangarmarsh. Get on the platform the elevator connects to and don't board the elevator. Turn right and look over the edge at the mushroom. Mount up on your ground mount and run (no jumping) onto that mushroom. Boom, you have the achievement.
Aggrajag Nov 18th 2008 9:39AM
@MisterMoose
It's easier than that for everyone. Get on the Scryer lift and jump off at the top, aiming to miss the bridge directly in front.
Arivia Nov 18th 2008 12:35PM
If you're Horde, just go to Undercity, walk down the sewer tube (the one you come in when flying) and jump out of a hole in the wall into the moat. Got it at level 11 without any slowfall or immunity effects like that.
Akuma Nov 18th 2008 1:12PM
You can get it at level 1 as a NE. Just hop off the top of the treehouse.
Pyrestorm Nov 18th 2008 9:09AM
For 20kg I'd expect nothing less.
Azri Nov 18th 2008 12:58PM
IMO it should sing and dance, too.
Arkantoze Nov 18th 2008 9:10AM
Imagine not telling your passengers you were not going to do that Oh well 10k more gold and I'll have it :-)
Rugus Nov 18th 2008 9:11AM
Bug reported!
SINisterWyvern Nov 18th 2008 9:28AM
bug report laughed at because it's not a bug!
Rugus Nov 18th 2008 9:53AM
@ SINisterWyvern
Sure, it's a so called "feature", right? ;). Anyway, the answer to my ticket was quite fast on the lines of "yes we're already investigating, thank you!". Ofc they read Wowinsider, MMorpg and others :)
Cow Nov 18th 2008 10:28AM
Wow, you're a sad man.
SINisterWyvern Nov 18th 2008 11:36AM
@ rugus
yeah, you got the default answer they always give. They knew about this 3 months ago in the beta, they know of it now. That's the way siege vehicles work. If they didn't want them to do that, they would have found some other way.
And I'll just laugh at you for thinking the default response meant that it'll be changed.
