MTV's Multiplayer blog has
an interview with Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime (who is apparently sitting pretty with the elven ladies after last week's big expansion launch). He says that he sees
no end to the expansions -- Blizzard has told us before that as long as they have ideas (and players), they'll keep making content for this game. He also says that they're
happy with the subscription model in the United States -- although we'd imagine that both of those things might get rethought if Blizzard's subscription numbers were going the other way. For now, though, while things are headed up, Morhaime sounds pretty happy with the way things are.
Finally, they ask about
an iPhone app, and Morhaime says Blizzard is working on connecting mobile devices up to the game, but he also specifically says they're not looking at
a stand-alone app. So maybe a mobile version of the Armory? I'd love to see an iPhone app, as we've said before, with mail or auction house functionality, but maybe Blizzard doesn't see the majority of their audience on the iPhone anyway. Then again, their Mac guys
always need something to do...

Is it just me or does Mike Morhaime look eerily similar to Mel Gibson in that picture?
woez Nov 19th 2008 7:47PM
I was at that NYC wrath release where the photo was taken.. those BEs were hilarious, looked like they could not wait to get the hell out of there. Mike looked like a nervous Dylan type of guy.
Morhaime and the first guy on line held the Frostmourne together and slid it into a block of fake ice at midnight.. lol, it was as silly as it sounds.
Still, I am really happy to have had the chance to get a Morhaime sig in my CE art book. Thanks, Mike

The main thing I'd want a mobile app for would be things like buying/selling off AH and 'maybe' working on professions. So you can sit with your iPhone and spam "Enchant Bracers" 100 times while riding the bus ;-)
Seriously though, the AH functionality would be nice, since the AH is like a form of eBay which we're all addicted to anyway...

Jesus god no
AUCTION HOUSE, LIVE on a phone? Absolutely insane.
Jermayan Nov 19th 2008 2:47PM
Anybody else think he looks like Mel Gibson?
Worcester Nov 19th 2008 2:55PM
Mel Gibson... with Frostmourne no less.
Now THERE'S a bad idea!
Radcliffe Nov 19th 2008 2:46PM
Actually, there is an iPhone app that lets you look at the Armory already. It's called Characters and it is free.

Yeah there are a few others aswell:
"Wowtalents" - Kinda like wowhead for talent trees
"Wow news" - News and videos about warcraft
"Warcraft chest"- Loot and stuff like that

I always thought he looked like a Hobbit.
(ok...a kinda cute hobbit. He's got some sort of sexinerd thing going on. I don't quite get it.)

I was thinking that, too. Spitting image of Bilbo from the movies.

What I don't understand about plans for continued expansion is.. how are they going to put a lid on the number of abilities these classes have? With each expansion classes get more talent points and more abilities to use. Two expansions from now our hotbars are going to be a veritable bonanza of spammable abilities.
I suppose they could stop expanding the talent trees and focus on creating new classes...
Deadly. Off. Topic. Nov 19th 2008 4:52PM
Easy. They don't give enough new skills and only give 3 new skills per expansion. Then they rework talents to the QQing crowd and give every class but paladins a way to instant kill something or someone.
I'm sure they can come up with ideas if they keep getting the money.

I was thinking the other day if they'd run into a wall where they need to make such a big change to the game mechanics, that they'd be forced to release World of Warcraft 2?
but with the new Phasing system in the new quests I think blizz could overcome this hurdle.. I am happy to buy future expansions if they have this much value in them.

I think wrath is proof that they want to speed up the expansion cycle. They have the patches mapped out, and in my opinion have held back on some content (raids, 2 new rraid at launchs, woot) so that they don't get bogged down in delayed release cycles like they did with Bc and wrath. My prediction: next EXP out nov of next year

I know this post has something to do with expansions, but...
I'm just distracted by the middle Blood Elf in the picture. Her ears are on backward.
