The Queue: Daily quests and Tastyfish

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft.
It's been a few days, you know how this goes by now. You ask your questions in the comments section below, I answer them in the near future. Got it? Good.
jared.daniels asked...
I just got to level 72 last night and realized that I have five different dailies that I can do in Northrend. Should I bother doing all of those every day, or just focus on the last one that I uncovered? And if I do go back, how long should I do them before I drop them for higher-level dailies?
That's wholly up to you, depending on what your play style is at 80. If you have a particular faction you want to get Exalted with, you may want to do some of those dailies every day. If you like PvP, you might want to try out the ones on the river in Grizzly Hills. Personally, the only dailies I repeat every day are the Kalu'ak ones so I can get the fishing pole more quickly, and the ones that happen to be in the zone I'm questing in already.
For example, I'm level 79 and I'm questing in Icecrown. There are a bunch of dailies there, and I'll stop and do some of them because they're good XP and my other quests are right next to them. I don't go back to the Grizzly Hills (again, example) and do the PvP ones though, because they're kind of out of my way and I don't really like to PvP.
So it pays off to do certain dailies every day if they help you further your current goal. I wouldn't spend a massive amount of your play time each day running around Northrend completing every daily you can before level 80 just for the sake of doing dailies. It's not terribly efficient. Or fun, for that matter. Get through to the good stuff, don't worry about dailies too much. Go ahead and do them once the first time around just to see the quest, but don't necessarily do it every day.
Carang of Kargath asked...
My question is about the STV fishing contest. If someone turns in the 40 fish to win, can you still fish for the rare fish to turn in?
Yep! The fishing contest has a set start time, and a set end time. You'll always be able to fish up Tastyfish and the rare fishes within that time frame. The first person with 40 Tastyfish wins the main prize, but everyone can keep turning in the rares for the special stuff after that, right up until the Tastyfish schools go away.
Tiis asked...
How many guilds have already beaten Naxx on 10 and 25?
I don't have solid numbers for either of those things because I'm not Blizzard, but I know that on my server Naxx-10 was cleared two days ago in a few hours by a mish-mash of people, whatever level 80s the raid leader could find and knew personally. We don't have enough people to hit Naxx-25 yet. Again, that's on my server.
I do know Naxx-25 is being cleared on other servers, and it only takes 25 people who are level 80 and can figure out how to not get slimed by Heigan, and let's be honest, if you can't dodge Heigan's slime you need to practice how to use your run key.
Just because Nihilum and SK were the first group to clear Naxxramas doesn't mean it takes Nihilum and SK to clear it. It just means they were the first group with enough organized 80s to do it. Utterly trivial.

Stop pushing for 450! You can't fish anywhere, these are MY fish! RAWR.
Also, I recommend the Sunday fishing tournament in STV threefold, for the sweet, sweet +35 fishing pole, the sweet, sweet boots/hat/fishing line, and for skilling up - you'll be so focused on the prize, that skilling up takes a backseat, and by the end of the tourney, you've gone up 10-15 skill points without that mind-numbing repetitiveness:
"Will I skill up?" /lootfish "Sigh..." /castline

Any guesses on how soon we'll need the crafted frost resist sets?
JLocke Nov 19th 2008 1:46PM
I had a question bout dailies, are there any areas where there are multiple dailies within a zone like there were with the Isle of Quel'thlas? Or are the good old days of Ilse like dailies gone and we have to zone hop to do them?
Zalvi Nov 19th 2008 1:48PM
Ok im still getting use to the tittle "the Queue"
/rolleyes
ANYWAYS , i was wondering , how much gold do dailies give at lvl 80, i heard that they give 30g per but im not sure

Maybe its time to take down the wrath counter on the left side?
Rewolf Nov 19th 2008 2:27PM
...left side *cough*
Tap Nov 19th 2008 2:55PM
Doh, yeah, right side. (I read WoWInsider looking in a mirror, don't you?)

What I want to know, and I know it's been discussed before, I'm just chiming in late; is why the level requirements for Kalu'ak rep rewards are so high? This is a faction that it's easy to gain rep with right off the boat/zep, has pervasive quest lines in the two starting zones and in Dragonblight, yet you have to be 74 - 76 to use their items. They have a great chest piece for tanking, the Ivory Reinforced Chestplate, but you have to be level 76 to wear it. Meanwhile, I can go run Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom a few times and probably get Battelchest of the Twilight Cult to drop, which I can wear at level 73, and it's better than the Kalu'ak rep reward.
What is the reasoning behind making the rep reward level requirements 75 and 76? Not that I can't probably hit 76 in the next couple of days, and it would make perfect sense if there weren't comparable if not better items available at lower levels, but I'm just curious as to what the reasoning is.
Beatphreek Nov 19th 2008 2:13PM
I'm going to guess its because Blizz doesn't expect us to stay 73 forever and by making the level requirements higher and thus the iLevel of the items a bit higher, the rep rewards can get a bit more mileage. Seems like the rep rewards in BC were somewhat similar except we weren't introduced to the factions until they were more level appropriate.
I'd guess that the reason they are not as nice as the Lvl 73-75 instance drops is that the faction is so easy to get repped up with and Boss drops are always a RNG that may never work out for you.
Tomarus Nov 19th 2008 3:07PM
Hmm. Ok, that makes sense, and I definitely don't see myself staying at 73 (or 74, since I dinged that last night) for long. I found that the first level took a while to get, but once you get further into some of the quest chains and can move out of the starting zone of your choice safely, you can really start racking up the XP fast. That, and completing Nothing Boring about Borean and D.E.H.T.A.'s Little P.I.T.A certainly helped. It does look like I'll be putting in the rest of the work on I Toured the Fjord for gold rewards after I hit 80 though, I just wasn't pulling XP as quickly as I would have liked and had to move on to Grizzly Hills and Zul'Drak.
It was just a bit of a shock to hit Honored with Kalu'ak at level 70 or early 71 and be so far away level wise from being able to use anything that I could technically purchase from them.

We had a realm first of Naxx on Monday and it was actually the No. 3 guild on the realm that got it. Guess they just had the most players available to do it. They were BT/Hyjal before the nerf patch and I think they managed to get KJ down once before the xpac release. So they werent in full sunwell gear by any means.
From what I'm hearing, Naxx is kinda like Kara was after the nerf patch. You walk in as soon as you hit 80 and get your free epics. As long as your smart enough to run when enfeebled and get out of scorched earth.
I've been slacking on hitting 80, going between my DK, my other alt and my main, but I figure as long as I hit 80 by Saturday night I can get in on Naxx before the reset and start the harder raids soon after.
At least for a little while skilled PVE players will have an advantage over people stuck in S4 gear when Arena starts up in Dec since we will have almost a month to gear up while they twiddle their thumbs.

I thought that I read somewhere on AABT that there would be dailies in Dalaran for professions. I've started running the Cooking daily, but so far I haven't seen any others. I know there must be one for Jewelcrafting because they have a vendor selling designs in exchange for the daily tokens. Do you have to have your tradeskills at a certain level to open them up? Or are they only for certain professions?

Any goblin-tested-gnome-approved transporter devices for Northrend towns? I'm eager to see some Wrath-flavor teleport 'debuffs', such as arriving on a teleport pad alongside twenty undead clones (all with moustaches and monocles), or briefly passing through the office of Wallace Breen before the device gets me to my destination.
Slypork Nov 19th 2008 2:20PM
I've spent a few days in the Howling Fjord now, and it occurs to me that I haven't seen any Rare Spawns. What's the frequency of those guys in Wrath, and where should I look to find them?

How about a post on the Northren dailies?
Ya know, for us lazy, casual players. :P
Vylemacer Nov 19th 2008 2:24PM
A while back someone posted an article about the "size" of Azeroth. From what I read so far, they say that Northrend is a massive place. Has anyone checked to see about how big it is, or if they have given its size relative to the other Azeroth continents or real world examples?
Drholiday Nov 19th 2008 2:37PM
So here is my question. Just before WotLK was released I gave up on my 70 priest in favor of being a warrior for wrath. I quickly rerolled and am currently 68 sitting in Netherstorm trying to avoid the Death Knight onslaught. Unfortunately this is right in middle of crunch time for finals here at my University so I don't have the play time that I would like. I would like to build a Tanking set to accompany my fury play style as I level through Northrend, which starting zone would be the best for acquiring this?

In wandering around Dalaran I've noticed that there are NPC "adventurers" that walk around doing things. At first I just noticed them arriving and leaving through the flightmaster, but I've since seen one walk up to the Inscription trainer and "train"(complete with salute and yellow flash) or go up to a guild bank and then "log out"(fade). What kinds of things have people noticed the NPC adventurers doing? I think it's kind of neat that they're there, and I'll occasionally follow one around just to see where they're going.
thelopes Nov 19th 2008 6:22PM
I've noticed the same, today in Dalaran a little rogue gnome, in a Dr. Doom mask piece, ran past me. I only noticed because it had no name above it till I clicked on it. Unfriendly, last name, and moving with a purpose.
