The Queue: Daily quests and Tastyfish

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft.
It's been a few days, you know how this goes by now. You ask your questions in the comments section below, I answer them in the near future. Got it? Good.
jared.daniels asked...
I just got to level 72 last night and realized that I have five different dailies that I can do in Northrend. Should I bother doing all of those every day, or just focus on the last one that I uncovered? And if I do go back, how long should I do them before I drop them for higher-level dailies?
That's wholly up to you, depending on what your play style is at 80. If you have a particular faction you want to get Exalted with, you may want to do some of those dailies every day. If you like PvP, you might want to try out the ones on the river in Grizzly Hills. Personally, the only dailies I repeat every day are the Kalu'ak ones so I can get the fishing pole more quickly, and the ones that happen to be in the zone I'm questing in already.
For example, I'm level 79 and I'm questing in Icecrown. There are a bunch of dailies there, and I'll stop and do some of them because they're good XP and my other quests are right next to them. I don't go back to the Grizzly Hills (again, example) and do the PvP ones though, because they're kind of out of my way and I don't really like to PvP.
So it pays off to do certain dailies every day if they help you further your current goal. I wouldn't spend a massive amount of your play time each day running around Northrend completing every daily you can before level 80 just for the sake of doing dailies. It's not terribly efficient. Or fun, for that matter. Get through to the good stuff, don't worry about dailies too much. Go ahead and do them once the first time around just to see the quest, but don't necessarily do it every day.
Carang of Kargath asked...
My question is about the STV fishing contest. If someone turns in the 40 fish to win, can you still fish for the rare fish to turn in?
Yep! The fishing contest has a set start time, and a set end time. You'll always be able to fish up Tastyfish and the rare fishes within that time frame. The first person with 40 Tastyfish wins the main prize, but everyone can keep turning in the rares for the special stuff after that, right up until the Tastyfish schools go away.
Tiis asked...
How many guilds have already beaten Naxx on 10 and 25?
I don't have solid numbers for either of those things because I'm not Blizzard, but I know that on my server Naxx-10 was cleared two days ago in a few hours by a mish-mash of people, whatever level 80s the raid leader could find and knew personally. We don't have enough people to hit Naxx-25 yet. Again, that's on my server.
I do know Naxx-25 is being cleared on other servers, and it only takes 25 people who are level 80 and can figure out how to not get slimed by Heigan, and let's be honest, if you can't dodge Heigan's slime you need to practice how to use your run key.
Just because Nihilum and SK were the first group to clear Naxxramas doesn't mean it takes Nihilum and SK to clear it. It just means they were the first group with enough organized 80s to do it. Utterly trivial.

I don't know if this has been asked or not but here it it goes.
When WOTLK was announced it said that there would be customizable dances. What ever happened to that?
actodd Nov 19th 2008 3:03PM
It (obviously) didn't make it into the xpac, but they have indicated that it will come with one of the next two patches.

Where, if anywhere, is the quartermaster for Valiance Expedition? I'm almost revered and I'm curious to see if there are any rewards available.
Strongshield Nov 19th 2008 3:40PM
There is a quartermaster in the both landing spots, they are the logistics officers. The rep is with the Alliance Vanguard though, of which the Valiance Expedition and 3 other factions make up. So just know that it is that rep, and not just the Valiance Expedition rep that determines the reward.
Zoidberg Nov 19th 2008 3:44PM
Who's compiled a list of gear you can get from reputation? What rep should I try to do dailies for as I level? Where do I get the rep gear?
kevin Nov 19th 2008 3:54PM
this is a question about leatherworking: in the beta they had several drums that could be used but I haven't seen them in live Did they get rid of them? If they did I will have to go back to outland and gather mats for the old drums :(
Alan Nov 19th 2008 6:12PM
Not only did they remove the new drums, they made the old drums work only until level 79.
Belynar Nov 19th 2008 3:58PM
Is there a set of rep-related gear for new 80s? I mean, in BC, there was the PvP blues that were in place, and I appreciated the immediate upgrade from a few quest greens and lower-end blues that I had. Of course, it was quickly replaced as I moved into heroics and T4 (I just started doing t5 raids after 3.0.2, and didn't get far), but it was a really nice way to get some starter pieces for instancing.

I've leveled to 73 so far and i haven't come across any examples of the phasing that I've been hearing about (at least not that I'm aware of). Could you give us an example of where this is used, or even a full list?
Dean Nov 19th 2008 4:09PM
If it's working well you shouldn't spot it. One I noticed was in Dragonblight at the first town, the Inkeeper and possibly a few other vendors don't 'appear' until you complete the quest of rescuing villagers from houses on the griffen early on.
bdew Nov 20th 2008 3:28AM
From what i noticed phasing until now:
- All the wrathgate / undercity stuff
- Grizzly hills - in the first horde town, the chick in charge gets replaced after having her ass kicked in the local arena
I'm sure it's used in more places, but most of the time you just don't notice it.
Jim Nov 19th 2008 4:14PM
Is there any place (once you're level 80) that's kind of like Isle of Quel'danas where you can do a whole bunch of daily quests quickly all in the same general area?
Jonny Dale Nov 19th 2008 5:00PM
I've just had a look at level 80 daily rewards, they are all only 7-12g, with the daily heroics being 22g.
This is nothing, I expected level 80 dailies to be 20-30g each, am I missing something?

How much could I sell this for on AH?
I've looked around and can't find any average buyout prices, and it looks awesome so thought it might sell for a bit. Even if it is green.
Stormscape Nov 19th 2008 5:16PM
Do abilities like On a Pale Horse and Crusader Aura increase the speed of vehicles such as the Mechano-hog?
Syraleon Nov 19th 2008 5:31PM
Are there any daily quest hubs in northrend similar to quel'danas? I ask because I found it very convenient and quick that those quests were all right there.
Icerulez Nov 19th 2008 5:39PM
What's up with the stonekeeper's shards. When we run instances with our guild, there's only 1 person who can loot them (because he has a buff of some sort, which all other persons in the group haven't). How come he's the only one getting this? Is it a bug? and if so, is it being fixed anywhere in the near future?
Andelorn Nov 20th 2008 4:16AM
I'm 73 and I LOVE my dailies. I do them every day just because they are awesome.
Drop bombs from a zeppelin!
Shoot gargoyles with a gnomish flying machine!
Rescue worgen pups!
Kill Blue dragons from atop a Red Dragon!
Cooking daily!
None of these are tedious (with the exception of the pups one maybe, but it's pretty quick anyway) or feel like work, they are just fun for an easy 15-20k experience and some gold. I particularly like how easy the cooking daily generally is, since I usually don't have to go anywhere but around Dalaran, and the Wyrmrest Temple daily when the dragon whispers to you things that just make the experience that bit more epic.

I'm not sure this is the correct place to ask this, but here goes anyways:
With the "passing" of TBC and the introduction of WotLK it seems that lower level leveling will be very different than it has been in the past. People who are leveling from 1 will be less likely to get groups for low level instances and AHing low level anything will likely be less profitable than ever before (greens as well as herbs, etc.) I imagine that the old tried and true money-making profs of skinning and herbalism will pay pennies at least until one reaches Outland.
How should players now level from 1? Which professions will be most useful during levelling? How should players grind to get the 30+ gold they need for a mount at level 30?
(I realize that most people will have a high level main to assist in money matters, but what if you don't? Are totally new to the game or are starting over on a new server without a high level main?)
Thanks.

I dunno if anything has really changed, sure right now it is different cause everyone and their grandma is out in northrend leveling or are running a dk. But I wouldn't say it will be useless. First of all at 80 you will make much more gold than you did at 70. So all the greens around 80 will settle at a higher price. Also at least with inscription I still need some low level herbs to do my minor inscription or to make a glyph. Once people are at 80 and cleared Naxx they will start getting bored again, so they will start leveling alts and making twinks.
As far as getting the dungeon runs, if you just want to level to 80 to play with your friends then dont even worry about it. If you are trying to power level any blues you get from dungeons will be nearly useless in a very short while. If you want to enjoy the content best things is get on a server with friends that can run you through dungeons or join a guild really quickly that runs low to mid level dungeons. Personally finding a group for gnomer and Dead Mines was easy as hell (I said finding a group, not a good group though). But when it came time to getting my charger (epic pally mount) if I wasnt in a guild I probably would have had to wait until 70 so I could go back and clear them on my own, or shill out the gold for someone to run me through i.
Since you can now learn it from a trainer then it is no longer a problem. So unless youre an enchanter and need to get the last few enchants from Ulldaman or something you dont need to worry about dungeons.
As far as 30g - this really shouldnt be that much of a problem. Do a few quests and stuff and you will get it really quickly. Though I had friends that gave me money when I first started my main character overall getting gold was easy as all hell.
Some suggestions would be:
get the biggest bags you can afford. I believe there are NPCs that can sell you 14slot bags for pretty cheap. - More bag space = less times you need to go back to a vendor
Repair everytime youre in town and make sure you have the best food you can eat at your level so you minimize down time.
Get Questhelper, Gatherer and Auctioneer. Each one makes money for you in a different way but without these everything take a lot more time.
