The Queue: Daily quests and Tastyfish

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft.
It's been a few days, you know how this goes by now. You ask your questions in the comments section below, I answer them in the near future. Got it? Good.

I just got to level 72 last night and realized that I have five different dailies that I can do in Northrend. Should I bother doing all of those every day, or just focus on the last one that I uncovered? And if I do go back, how long should I do them before I drop them for higher-level dailies?
That's wholly up to you, depending on what your play style is at 80. If you have a particular faction you want to get Exalted with, you may want to do some of those dailies every day. If you like PvP, you might want to try out the ones on the river in Grizzly Hills. Personally, the only dailies I repeat every day are the Kalu'ak ones so I can get the fishing pole more quickly, and the ones that happen to be in the zone I'm questing in already.
For example, I'm level 79 and I'm questing in Icecrown. There are a bunch of dailies there, and I'll stop and do some of them because they're good XP and my other quests are right next to them. I don't go back to the Grizzly Hills (again, example) and do the PvP ones though, because they're kind of out of my way and I don't really like to PvP.
So it pays off to do certain dailies every day if they help you further your current goal. I wouldn't spend a massive amount of your play time each day running around Northrend completing every daily you can before level 80 just for the sake of doing dailies. It's not terribly efficient. Or fun, for that matter. Get through to the good stuff, don't worry about dailies too much. Go ahead and do them once the first time around just to see the quest, but don't necessarily do it every day.

My question is about the STV fishing contest. If someone turns in the 40 fish to win, can you still fish for the rare fish to turn in?
Yep! The fishing contest has a set start time, and a set end time. You'll always be able to fish up Tastyfish and the rare fishes within that time frame. The first person with 40 Tastyfish wins the main prize, but everyone can keep turning in the rares for the special stuff after that, right up until the Tastyfish schools go away.
Tiis asked...
How many guilds have already beaten Naxx on 10 and 25?
I don't have solid numbers for either of those things because I'm not Blizzard, but I know that on my server Naxx-10 was cleared two days ago in a few hours by a mish-mash of people, whatever level 80s the raid leader could find and knew personally. We don't have enough people to hit Naxx-25 yet. Again, that's on my server.
I do know Naxx-25 is being cleared on other servers, and it only takes 25 people who are level 80 and can figure out how to not get slimed by Heigan, and let's be honest, if you can't dodge Heigan's slime you need to practice how to use your run key.
Just because Nihilum and SK were the first group to clear Naxxramas doesn't mean it takes Nihilum and SK to clear it. It just means they were the first group with enough organized 80s to do it. Utterly trivial.

I am 78 and have noticed the cooking daily in Dalaran, but I have not been able to find a fishing daily. Are those gone? Is it just cooking dailies now?

Hey any word if or when Blizzard is removing the prerequisite of having a 55+ on the server you want to start a DK on in favor of just a 55+ on any server?
Smilodon Nov 20th 2008 1:45AM
i was wondering, does anyone duel-wield with their DK? is it even worth trying out? are 2h weapons better for DPS and such or is it like a warrior used to be where it depends on spec and the way you are geared
Azkadellia Nov 20th 2008 4:11AM
Dual wielding with a DK is theoretically viable in terms of DPS, but the problem is the amount of +hit you need. TBC gear was OK with it, but I hear it's a lot less common on the levelling stuff you get in Northrend.
I'm sure i read something on the elitistjerks DK thread about it.

So I was wondering. I remember hearing a long time ago that it was possible to get rep with the scarlet crusade. I don't remember where I read it or how its down but you could go to any of their controlled areas and they would be friendly to you.
How does this effect the new faction the scarlet onslaught? Does the rep from either effect the other?
Obnauticus Nov 20th 2008 2:49AM
You couldn't get rep per se. If you walked into the Scarlet Monastery with a Corrupted Ashbringer, all the mobs would be green. They would kneel before you, emote things etc.
There was a cutscene then in the cathedral where Highlord Mograine greets you and welcomes you in and stuff happens.

I'm still bumbling along with my main character at level 66, but would love the opportunity to run the old BC raid instances at some point in the future. Given the recent changes to their difficulty, what kind of level (I'm guessing post 70) would I do well to try and get a group together to take on say, The Black Temple?
Guapa Nov 20th 2008 9:08AM
I would think that you can do to BT anytime you want once you're Lv. 70. (I think that's the min. level to get in)
The biggest problem will be that the general interest in oldschool raids is rather low because everybody is busy in Northrend. So you will probably need to wait a few weeks if not months until people start getting bored and will be willing to go back to the old stuff.
But if you get a group of 10 Lv. 80s together and you have a vague idea of how the bosses work, you should not face major issue.
My raid firstkilled the last 4 BT bosses with 23 ppl. within a single ID after patch 3.0.2. hit.

A question about the upcomming events. Firefestival, Brewfestival and Halloween brought eventbased bosses to some instances. I know this is sort-off the case with Lunar festival but what about the rest? (Children/Valentine/etc.)
The bosses described above were all level 70 bosses/quests. Will they now be level 80 with sinergized loot or do we have to go back to outland/azeroth to do all the Event Quests/Boss Kills?
JackOfAllGames Nov 20th 2008 7:15AM
Is there a fishing daily in Northrend? I'm now level 77 and haven't found anything yet. Have I overlooked it?
Xaktsaroth Nov 20th 2008 8:49AM
As a player who has just swapped mains to a protection warrior, what sort of stats should I be looking at attaining before being ready to MT or OT Naxx?
Nith Nov 20th 2008 9:52AM
Im not expert on warriors but do not think it is the longer the case that you need specific gear, just get some blues from high level dungeons (68-70) and you should be fine. I've heard a mishmash of blues and greens even works.
Im 76 now, granted im just done clearing HF and BoTu, and nearly done DB but I love them most are easy as hell to do and I want the fishing rod and the penguin (ill be there in a few days :) ). I mainly do them though cause they give you gold and xp. Granted that regular questing probably would level me quicker but that extra xp will leave me with more quests when im 80 - which means more money. Also the rep will get me all the cool stuff and all the mount discounts. Heading to ZD and GH today. Hopefully more dialies there. Though since I am on an Alliance server I hope the PvP dailies will not resemple the HH daily PVP quest where you would sit for hours until finally some hordie will come by to grab the towers (usually all it took was one, since everyone would leave the hordie be until they can claim all three towers at once.

What's up with Shaman itemization? I heard sometime ago that they were gonna use the hunter gear, but i havent heard since.
Harmun Nov 21st 2008 4:02PM
I'd like to ask a hunter gearing question. Whenever I get new gear from questing or the like, I often have to compare the value of haste, hit, crit, attack power, and armor penetration. Can you dredge up a rough dps comparison? Is 1% hit going to increase my overall dps about the same, or less than 1% crit or 1% armor pen?
Obviously this won't be scientific or the same for everyone, but even rough numbers will help.
