The reason is VERY simple, and has been spelled out from the very start- Chromie tells you that alterations to major events in the timeline will break it... causing the destruction of time/space/puppies/kittens/etc.So while anyone sane may want to kill Thrall rather than rescue him (FTH!!), such an alteration will destroy everything. Likewise, we may not agree with Arthas and his actions... it already happened. Deal with it.So while the causality issue might attribute motives, etc... the simple fact that altering the timeline destroys the universe kind of removes motives in a clear way (you are either pro-destroy the universe, or against it). Assuming Chromie is being honest, of course: we aren't . But overall, questgivers have been very honest about their motivations (clearly unrealistic, but obviously it makes the lore easy to track).
