TwentyFifthNovember becomes Ensidia
The merger between Nihilum and SK Gaming that was temporarily known as TwentyFifthNovember (who has already cleared all current Wrath content) has announced their new name. Ensidia. There are some neat details they've announced with their name, such as launching a community site soon and all of that, but none of that is particularly important. What's important is their new name sounds like some kind of medicine or drug. Every corner of the internet is currently giggling to themselves over it. A professional gaming group? No way. They're some kind of sleep aid, or erectile dysfunction medication. I've seen at least a dozen people rattling off potential side effects of taking Ensidia tonight. I'm not really curious about their raid progression anymore, I'm more interested in whether I can take it on an empty stomach or not.

Ensidia = Erectile dysfunction medication. And yes, it works. Raid pwnage is THAT hot.
On a less retarded note, I actually don't think it sounds like a medication; my first impression went:
Ensidia = Insidia =
Insidious. (adjective)
1. beguiling but harmful; "insidious pleasures"
2. intended to entrap
Syn: Crafty, Trecherous, Deceptive.
Sidenote: Yes, some of us are interested in the happenings of the world's best (or fastest, if you prefer) raiders.

A guild changes its name, how is this news?
only relevant to people actually in that guild, and I'm pretty sure they'd know about it without it being on WoWinsider.
This kind of information belongs in the guildwatch column, not in it's own post.
IMO ofc.

Not that I particularly mind this story, it does seem better suited as part of a Guild Watch article. I suppose this guild has earned their moment under the sun, but an article dedicated just to a name change seems a bit excessive.

I agree, guild watch would have been my first choice as a home for this article, while I'm here I might as well say something.
To be perfectly honest, I, among alot of other people could care less about this topic but thats not to say that I dont admire their team effort in being able to pull off the stuff they do.
At the end of the day the expansion and WoW in general means something different to everyone, wether it be raiding, grinding, leveling alt after alt... whatever

Looking at my calender and noticing that, for most Europeans / Asians / Australians, it is currently the 25th of November, I reckon it's very likely that this change had been planned ever since TwentyFifthNovember was formed.
Also, I thought that the name was more a ploy on some sort of evil thing. Ensidia, insidious, something like that. It's possible.

I first thought the TwenthyFifthNovember was in reference to V for Vendetta.
Then I had to look it up and found out the V for Vendetta was the FIFTH of November. Makes the name a little less cool in my books.

Ensidia is the name of the Dubai company that's sponsoring them.
I'm assuming they probably asked Blizzard permission to use the name [because it's a real world reference]; if not, they could end up being forced to rename, and I can't imagine their sponsor will like that.
Then, part of their goals for their web portal:
* Be the hub for our guild members and likeminded folk.
* Provide for the sizable hardcore/moderate population in our community.
* Evolve to fit the complex tastes and needs of the WoW community in general.
What, like Elitist Jerks? I think I'd rather go there...
Farrell Nov 24th 2008 9:18PM
no wait, I read wrong... they're NOT sponsored by Ensidia of Dubai...
Or at least they claim not to be.
Having a Dubai sponsor, and having the guild name of a Dubai company..
a little too suspect...
kenney Nov 25th 2008 12:50PM
I couldn't agree more. I appreciate incredibly skilled guilds that clear content way before my guild can even think of it, but... There is something so much more authentic about a guild like elitist jerks- and the community around their boards is incredibly useful (due in no small part to their unapologetically antagonistic modding style).
There is something about envidia that just makes me feel like the sponsors are missing the point, and I can't relate to the team. Normally I think I would hear that some guys tricked some company into paying them to play video games, and I'd think "good for them"- but something about that group just alienates me. Maybe it's the way that they expect to hold their accomplishments against guilds like elitistjerks- I mean, when you are the only guild who is sponsored to clear content, can you really compare your acheivements to guilds whose members all have jobs?

Just to clarify for those who think this :D
I know you corrected your own post, Thank you!
bear Nov 24th 2008 9:22PM
you guys do realize this post is about a lot more than just a guild changing names.
if you take the time to read their site youll realize its actually a question of wow becoming oversimplified, and ensidia, members of the top guilds or not are making it clear just how easy this game is becoming.
Nauwkie Nov 24th 2008 9:30PM
"ensidia, members of the top guilds or not are making it clear just how easy this game is becoming."
That's like Michael Phelps telling you swimming is easy and everyone should be able to swim the 100 m butterfly in 51 seconds.

I'm not really sure comparing a world class athlete to loser basement-dwellers is really valid.
grelk Nov 24th 2008 9:21PM
From the website:
"Ensidia is a joint effort by members of two of the top guilds in World of Warcraft, with the support and endorsement of a private entity based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates."
A "private entity"???
As to the rest of their rant... oh my god the world's most eager group of unemployed people sitting in their mother's basements feel they have a philosophical stance to offer the world.
Spare us.

To all of you who responded negatively to this article: Nobody forced you to read it, they have these handy titles above every article that tell you what it's going to be about and furthermore have a paragraph of text to coax you into reading the article further and give you a feel for its content.
If those clues are not enough to determine whether or not the article is worth reading to you then I fear you're retarded and should an hero immediately.
grelk Nov 24th 2008 9:26PM
Thanks for contributing to further the conversation.
Oh wait.
You just whined about the whiners.
No hypocrisy here btw - my post was on topic, unlike yours.
draeth Nov 24th 2008 9:59PM
ah i see what you did ther. well played. i was, in fact, whining.
Lemons Nov 24th 2008 10:37PM
Hmmm...how can I tell the whiners to shut up without being accused of being a hypocrite?
Hey! Whiners! stfu!
I hope that wasn't too whiny for you -.-
Khirzask Nov 24th 2008 9:23PM
Jealous mortals are jealous.
I, for one, welcome our new Ensidia overlords.
dshwd Nov 24th 2008 9:25PM
Why do you report this?
No one really cares....
My hope in the future you will cease to bring up any further "news" about this particular guild
