We were chatting about this on our own realm forums, of the Sha'tar EU, and here is a small bit of my own post on the matter."Varian, to me, is a very abrupt character, who comes more from the board room than the writer's desk. He has been tailor-made to brew up some narrative PVP within the game, presumably to compete with Warhammer Online's focus on that aspect of the game. For those not reading the comic, his entry into the world was without explanation, without build up, and without any reason as to why this guy could jump off balconies in Stormwind Harbour and strike down frost wyrms in no less than a second. What is this - Dragonball Z? Whereas everyone else were using traditional abilities and spells, Varian resembled that of another universe, really. It was quite jarring. ""When his over the top anger is displayed, you don't say "OHHHH, IT'S ON!" like you would if Magni got annoyed, because this is all Varian seems to do. Yell in capitals.""He's certainly replaced the heroes who exposed Oynxia and eventually killed her, because in the narrative, HE is doing that, not the people who did it two or three years ago. All that stuff has had no impact whatsoever on the game's world, it seems. What an absurd choice, and a definite reason why people would be saying that WOW is in fact just one mindless grindfest. He's just ridiculously powerful. "
