On a serious side, don't you have to look at the age of the humans compared to all of the other races? They are a young race who were forced to learn lessons about life that the other races have had years to learn.
When all you see is brutality, you are inclined to believe that brutality is all there is. The Draenei are eons ahead of the other races merely for the time they have had to learn their lessons.
The orcs desire to move away from their past means they actually have one. In the scope of a civilization, the humans are hardly at the same stage of development as the other races. Varian may not be what's best for Azeroth, and I'm not particularly fond of him as an alliance only player, but desperate times call for desperate measures and few could argue we are at the vertex of desperation.
