Has Varian experienced anything that would suggest the "new" Horde is a better Horde? Maybe he is clinging to old grudges, old views, because there is very little evidence that the Horde is becoming better. Having Bolvar killed by underhanded treachery, via work done in the Undercity, didn't help. If the Horde can keep their own members under control, can't clean house, then what hope is there TO change the minds of the Alliance people?Jaina might be too trustworthy. I'd hate to see this faith crushed through her own demise. Varian would completely lose it then, and so would all the Alliance who love her. Thrall really needs to put his house in order, because war could be on the horizon otherwise.
