Breakfast Topic: Most annoying Northrend Mob

Seriously, these things are annoying. I'll be riding through the Fjord, passing near a herd of neutral Shoveltusk, when BAM, the Shoveltusk Stag leading the group comes charging out of nowhere, dazes me, and starts laying in. A couple of wolves join in, and suddenly I'm in trouble. Then there's the Island Shoveltusk. Despite having just collected a whole mess of regular shoveltusk meat for some soup, suddenly, I have to collect more shoveltusk meat. Except this is special Island shoveltusk meat. That extra stuff I got on the mainland won't cut it. To make matters worse, the Island Shoveltusk are spread across the island, and are generally eaten by wolves -- as in, nearly wolf mobs attack and kill them -- before I get them. Collecting those six meats can be sort of excruciating after a while.
Of course, the nice part is that they're not located outside the Fjord. But when I'm there... Those buggers are annoying. What about you? Have you developed a hateful relationship with a certain type of mob?

Not necessarily the type of mob but rather a glitch in the game, there is this one area in Dgraongsblight that you have to fly around on a mount they give you, and bomb these bats. Right below that area is a quest giver standing on a stone and I always get aggro from some mob in the water, I go in the water to fight it and it "evades" no matter how long I wait, I go back on the rock and it runs back at me and starts hitting away. so annoying!

Arthas is the most annoying NPC. his so full of himself :P

@Dajobe
Not unlike trolls that consistently post first trying to get their blogs attention through the use of posting links and whatnot. :)

I don't comment unless I have some value to add to the artcile or give my opinion, I don't see the issue. It's just a signature.

No, Will, it's blogspam, and you know it. You reply to a significant portion of posts on this entire site with some inane comment and your blog's link conveniently below. But the wowinsider editors don't seem to mind, so I usually just quietly vote you down every time I see one of your comments and don't make a fuss. Happy thanksgiving.

By far the worse is the birds in Icecrown. You don't see them when they aggro, and then they are extremely hard to hit with melee. And they have a knockdown.....

i HATE the abominations and there annoying chain pull thing that they do. Just when your thinking.. oh no time to run away to many of them, you start legging it to the nearest safe spot and lo and behold. BAM "get over here" abomination chain pull and your right back in the middle of them. ggrrrrrr

No question about it, I hate these guys :(
Heck, I can AoE down 5-6 mobs no problem (I'm a full Balance Druid), but if 1-2 aboms are in the mix, I barely stand a chance. They just keep ripping me across the battlefield until I die :(

Now I don't run away from mobs often but doing the last quest for DK's was very annoying thanks to this.
you walk in and you get pulled from one side to the other by at least 10 abominations.

Huge agreement here. I dislike mobs that can stun you but mobs that can actually MOVE me? YANK ME OFF MY MOUNT? .... it was very traumatic the first time it happened (I'm a run away from large pulls kind of clothy and (since they are) unfearable, undead are bad enough without them yanking me around while I try to run away.

Shoveltusk haven't bothered me at all.
Now Gigantaur in the Dragonblight was annoying... We went to get him down for the quest and he used a knock back ability on me next to the cliff D:

Two words which symbolize a quest more frustrating than any I've had in Northrend so far:
Murloc Heads.

A real bugger of a mob is the nerubians in Icecrown. Not so much because of the mob itself but because of its availability. I'm a skinner and leatherworker so I need a lot of mats. A ton of mats. And nerubian chitin was on my list, so I got to Icecrown and look around and see this spot with a bunch of nerubians and spiders running all over the place just waiting to be skinned. Then I see a couple quests nearby and I think "Oh joy! I can get some extra exp while I grind mats!" How wrong I was. After you complete the quest chain around Argent Vanguard, the nerubians disappear and are gone forever. Nobody told me this before I delved in! I would've got more skinning done...
Saithir Nov 28th 2008 8:25AM
I did exactly the same... Now I have to find a new spot for the chitin.
That's the only one moment I've really cursed the new phasing system.
elstor Nov 28th 2008 8:29AM
well at least I know where to find them and what quests not to do now :)
vanye111 Nov 28th 2008 9:15AM
If you're horde, they're swarming all over the place by Warsong Hold. You can get some chitin from them (not a lot, but I did pick up a few pieces there). Of course, there are the spider instances too (Ahn'Kahet, and Azjol-Nerub).
Who knew that spiders had Arctic Fur?
Karl Nov 28th 2008 9:48AM
The skitterers in Kolramas in central Zul'Drak have a decent drop rate for chitin, that's where I've been getting mine.

Runed Giants for me. God I hate them, so yes, of course, they are elite, but until there I had been able to solo just about any group quest except the Naxxarar ones in Boreal Tundra, and suddenly, a mob with a completely ridiculous debuff, stacking -1000HP every two seconds?
Why do Blizzard hate melee chars so much? As a warrior, they were a pain. WHich is several shades of stupid, when the follow up to the quest inolving killing them is a three man quest, which took all of 15 seconds to solo.
Surt Nov 28th 2008 10:23AM
Other melee classes are screwed, but just keep spell reflect up - he'll dot himself and it's an easy kill from there.
Micgo Nov 28th 2008 8:16AM
The runed giants in Grizzly Hills have to be the most annoying mobs. There is a stream of them on the east side of the zone and they TELEPORT. I can't even begin to count how many times I was killing a wolf or shoveltusk in the area, only to see a flash of light and BAM a giant wanting to kill me.
Luckily, later on I got a quest to shrink them and kill them. I cleaned out the area in hopes of making life a bit easier for those behind me.
