The Oracles' Mysterious Egg is a must-get for pet and mount collectors
If you're still trying to decide whether to grind rep with the Oracles or the Frenzyheart in Sholozar Basin, here's something that might make up your mind: The Mysterious Egg, a reputation reward at revered with the Oracles. You'll have to keep the egg on you for 7 days, but at the end of those 7 days, it will hatch into a few things. Most of the time, the egg will be a "dud," and you get an Aged Yolk.
Some of the other possibilities, however, are pretty dang cool.
First of all, there's 4 companion vanity pets that could hatch out of the egg: A Cobra Hatchling, a Tickbird Hatchling, a White Tickbird Hatchling, or a Proto-Drake Whelp. All 4 are likely to be highly desired centerpieces of a companion collector's set, and I know a few dragon enthusiasts in particular who are especially drooling over that last possible pet.
Speaking of Dragon enthusiasts, there's one more possible hatching from the egg that MMO-Champion discovered recently: The Green Proto-Drake. That's right, get revered with oracles, carry around an egg for a few days, and you could have an awesome looking green dragon lizard thing to ride around on.
The Disgusting Jar from the Frenzyheart definitely has a lot of catching up to do. It may be that eventually someone will find something in it that would make up for missing out on 4 extra pets and a mount, but for now, It's Oracle reputation for me for sure.

Awesome thanks for this I guess thats more of a reason for me to go oracles.

Yeah, that pretty much settled it for me. The gremlins/sharkicons ftw. O_o
It does make me wonder if there's actually anything good for Frenzy or did they intentional shaft them because they wanted players to pick Oracles?

The drake is bested only by the three from achievements and the blue one imo, so its not the best but not the ugliest either. I'm glad they have lots of different sources for the drakes rather than the netherdrakes where you have one place to get them.

I find it rather stupid that one faction has such an advantage over the other.
Unless the Frenzyheart's Jar turns out to be remotely as cool as this, it's kinda unfair...

I'm surprised by how awesome the Oracle egg is, and how lame the Frenzyheart jar is. Normally Blizz tries not to make such obvious imbalances. There should be 4 different pets and one different mount available via the jar. What do they get instead? An item which turns you into a Wolvar. Cool, but not as cool as 4 pets and a mount.

I'd assume that the mounts you'd get from this are BoP since the egg is but those would go for pretty great prices otherwise

Time to start farming eggs...

How are people getting exhalted so fast to buy this egg? Ive done the three dailies every single day since i was 77 and im barely about to hit revered? Am I missing something are there more then three dailies?
Verit Nov 30th 2008 7:58PM
I'm almost all the way revered with them just doing the quests they give you in the starting zone.
Blake Dec 1st 2008 11:31AM
You only need revered to buy the egg.
CJay Nov 30th 2008 7:01PM
Well that really sucks.
I thought the jar did the same thing as the egg, and given my hatred for all things Murloc - and they're more intelligent cousins - I went with the Frenzyhearts.
Also for the cool thrown weapon...
Guess I'll have to switch back now :(

The jar can give you an item that turns you into a frenzyheart, much like the furbolg wand thingy.
Thats why i want it. Turning into stuff > drakes and pets by far.
MacDork Dec 3rd 2008 9:31AM
I'm grinding the frenzyheart for that spear, too -- as a hunter with a thrown weapon, does that mean I can get rid of my ammo pouch?
shayskir Nov 30th 2008 7:04PM
Silly me the egg is sold at revered.../facepalm
Darkharmony Dec 1st 2008 2:41PM
I'm about 99% sure that they were sold at exhaulted during beta.
MusedMoose Nov 30th 2008 7:54PM
I now really, really hope that the jar does prove to sometimes provide a mount, just so I can make a macro so that whenever I summon that mount my character says "To me, Beer-born Beast!"
...maybe it's just me.

anyone know if there is a way to switch factions, like a noob i started knocking out quests on my way to 80 without a care for who they were for.
Alzoid Nov 30th 2008 8:05PM
Yes, there is a way to switch, I actually went and did it myself about an hour ago, you need to kill Artruis the Heartless (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=28659 ) in a cave, at 30% she goes immune, and the 2 frozen npc's near her will unfreeze and start killing you, just kill the one of the frenzyheart tribe, Artruis will become attackable again, just kill her, talk to the oracle npc, and there you go!
Also, once you get exalted with your respective faction, doing this will get you the achievement very easy
Houldlum Nov 30th 2008 10:34PM
This switch will start you at Honored with the new faction and Hated with the dropped.
Jane Gray Dec 2nd 2008 6:17AM
Yeah we just killed one without thinking about it so now I have to go back and redo it as well.
