The Queue: Can't get enough sockets

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft.
Just a few questions today, because slow weekends are slow. Who wants to ask questions when you can be playing? Certainly not me. I will still answer questions, however. Let's jump right in with ender's question...

What, in your own opinion, is the easiest faction to start to grind on for rep as a new level 80? I know there is the "championing" but with dailies etc, what seems to be the easiest?
The first one you do is the easiest. Why? Because you're not sick of running any of the Heroics yet, so it's all fair game, heh. After that you lose a little drive. In all seriousness, the Ebon Blade seems the easiest so far. Not only do they have multiple massive quest chains in Icecrown, they also have 3 dailies you do in one little area, and the tabard you can wear in Heroics. If I tossed on my Ebon Blade tabard right after hitting Exalted with Wyrmrest, I think I'd be Ebon Blade exalted by now, too. I put on an Argent Crusade tabard instead and I'm only sitting in early Revered with them.
Your experiences may vary and I'm willing to bet our readers will have other opinions, and that's totally fine. Heck, I think they should toss in their thoughts, too. It might help you pick and choose a little more, you know? Multiple opinions is great. I definitely think it's the Ebon Blade, though.

One thing that always annoys me about helping out freinds level up in Northrend has been them on their 100% ground mounts or 60% flyers. To make this easier, are there any multi-passenger flying mounts? Or any plans to bring them in?
I'm sure we'll see these in the future but there aren't any now as far as we know there are no plans to have them yet. A day or two ago someone asked about the aerial siege vehicles that were in Wintergrasp in beta, and this dovetails into that a little bit. They were there in beta, and one of them held more than one person. For some reason they disappeared, and I don't think we know whether that was for technical reasons or for balance reasons. They didn't like normal flight in Wintergrasp, so I wouldn't be surprised if they just wanted to keep the battle grounded. Either way, they've tried to do it, and whether it was a success or not we're not sure, but we know they've at least worked on it. It would not shock me to see an obscenely expensive multi-passenger flying mount one day.
When that day is? No idea.
Damatastre asked...
I just got my blacksmithing to 400 and learned the socket bracers and socket gloves recipes. I was curious to find out if there are any other available socketing recipes, so I searched wowwiki and came up with a socket for a one handed weapon. Unfortunately, there was no additional information on it. Is this recipe available for Blacksmiths to do? If so, do you have any idea where to find it?
Blacksmiths get to add sockets to their own bracers and gloves. They also get to create Belt Buckles to sell to others, to add a socket to belts. The Socket One-Handed Weapon never made it into the game in a way that could be used, it was just seen in the game files. I'm not sure whether it even made it into beta or not, but I don't think it did. I think they decided not to use that one and go with bracers/gloves instead, because all of the profession-unique 'enchants' overwrite real enchantments from enchanting. Would you really pass up something like Mongoose as a tank/melee for one more gem? In some cases sure, but most of the time you would just laugh at that and go get the real enchant instead of some +stamina gem.
Bracers/Gloves you're pretty assuredly gonna go for the gem, since its a clear +stat upgrade over an enchantment. Weapons are a little more varied and unique. You can't get something like Mongoose in a gem unless it's a metagem, and being able to socket multiple metagems would be absurd considering how good some of them are.

Instances are as "low-traffic" as you can get, so try those for levelling if you haven't yet.
Although, I'm a rogue on a PVP server and haven't had a lot of trouble with level 80 Allies. Did you just start levelling in one of the starter zones? Ganking may be more of a problem now. I'm in Dragonblight at level 74 and moving quickly through quests. Questing is much faster XP than grinding. See if anyone else in the area needs to group together to avoid gankers. Even if they die, they may give you time to vanish and escape the enemy... hey, that's what rogues do.

I play a Resto LW druid, and skinning is fairly important to me while I level LW and keep my guildies stocked. I recently found one of the best places to farm Nerubian chitin is phased out in Icecrown if you continue too far along the quest line. Are there other places where this is the case? Should those of certian professions avoid questing in certian areas until they have a good stock of goods?

What's behind that giant gate to the north of Stormwind Harbour, the one with the giant bar on it?

Nothing, literally nothing so far. Maybe one day player/guild housing, but right now nothing.

QUESTION!
Are there any plans to introduce more bank slots and bank tabs ???

I'm gunning for all of the Holiday achievements on my main, but with wrath just coming out I have been taking my time leveling my alts and main at the same pace. I was wondering with Winter Veil just around the corner, is there anything I should expect achievement wise that would require level 80?

Whats with the queues? I'm on Nazgrel and we've been low/med pop realm forever, and when I return from Thanksgiving break, there's queues! Luckily its short, but do you have any idea on what caused the spike?
Also, has there been any explanation with the Kirin Tor and the Horde yet? I remember slaughtering hundreds Dalaran mages in silverpine...and now im friends with them? Doesnt seen right...

After hemorrhaging people for quite some time, Nazgrel managed to get itself on the "recommended" server list. Even so it was interesting that it was locked the other day. I'm assuming that Blizzard isn't releasing new servers because they anticipate things dying down in a month or two.

Question:
I was playing a few games of Strand of the Ancients the other day. I really enjoyed the fast paced, intense and fun fights, but one thing left me puzzled: Every single battleground starts with horde defending the fortress and alliance attacking it. Apparently this is intentional, and knowing Blizzard´s extreme attention to polish and thoroughness I´m sure there is a good reason for it. Thing is, I just can´t wrap my head around what that reason could be.
A perfect game for alliance would be destroying the relic in 3 minutes, leaving horde with the same time to do it themselves. Total time = 6 minutes.
A perfect game for horde on the other hand, would be defending the fortress for the full 10 minutes and then destroying the relic in 3 minutes. Total time = 13 minutes.
Also there´s the psychological advantage of being able to put a morale-crushing timer on the other team before they even get started.
So, is there something I´m not getting? Do the tables turn once every week/month/arena season, or is this actually working as intended? You would think randomizing the whole thing would be the obvious thing to do, so why did Blizzard go for this solution?

So way back when WowInsider was doing profession previews they showed a few crafted epic wands starting with "the branch of destruction". I have yet to find anyway to find or craft this item.
Has it been removed, further reducing the reason to have enchanting after losing oils?

Neither wowhead nor wowwiki reveals how to get the recipe for Fish Feast ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=43015 )
Have you gentlemen and ladies at WoW Insider heard anything more about this wonderful item and how we chefs du Northrend can attain the recipe?
