Honestly? I think the servers at this point have a good chance of outlasting the government. I don't mean that as anything bad about our government, either. I just fully expect to be logging in and pulling up my level 190 Druid when I'm in a retirement home.
I'm sure expansions will stop coming out, and servers will be combined, but I think the WoW generation is going to keep playing this game for many decades to come. Or until WoW 2 comes out.
