Seriously while loot becomes more important later, if you want to retain your enjoyment of the game, put content and fun ahead of loot. Loot is a bonus, go into an instance not counting on getting anything other than a bit of XP and you won't be dissapointed.
Our guild also emphasizes this. You raid and do instances together to see content and enjoy the challenge. The moment you become obsessed with loot you're missing out and likely ruining it for others.
Don't be a loot-whore.
