The Queue: Trinkets, sigils and death by Orcs

It's Wednesday, which I've determined is the worst day of the week ever, so let's skip any delays today and jump right into the Q&A. If you disagree that Wednesday is the worst, you are wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. As wrong as you could possibly be. Just sayin'.
Robsato asked...
I recently got my warrior to level 71 and I really miss my riding crop especially since my main is a pally going at normal speed feels really slow. Is there a way to get my 10% speed increase back?
Yes. Reroll and stop leveling before you hit 71. But seriously, no, there isn't. You could try to mash your Warrior and your Paladin together to make one larger character with Crusader Aura, a Pallior or a Warridin, but I think the resulting mass of flesh would be considered an abomination unto the Light and need to be killed for the good of Azeroth. You're out of luck. No +10% movement speed for you. Sorry!
Daniel asked...
I have never played a Horde character and I have always been somewhat mystified about the precise relationship between the Horde and Alliance from a game playing point of view. During a trade a once got in a conversation with a Paladin who was in the Undercity! Every time I go near that place some 65 level guard kills me. Furthermore, when you look at the Classic Dungeonmaster Achievement, you have to complete both the Horde and the Alliance Dungeons. So you have to be able to get into the Horde areas as Alliance. How? As I said, I really don't understand how this works because whenever I get near Horde areas, I die.
That Paladin was just good at hiding. If you want the achievement for Ragefire Chasm, the instance in Orgrimmar, you're going to need to 'corpse hop' like other readers mentioned yesterday. Run as deep into the city as you can before you die. Run back from the graveyard, repeat. Not especially complicated, but also not necessarily fun either. There's a trick that comes with one specific quest that will allow you to run around in Orgrimmar 100% untouched, but it's a limited time only deal. I don't want to spoil the quest for everyone by blurting it out, but if you don't mind spoilers, just follow this link. The quest I'm referring to comes directly after that.
Krugeroff asked...
What about the sigil that Death Knights have in the relic slot? Are there going to be more? Every other class that uses this slot for a relic has an upgrade, but I've seen nothing for Death Knights and the Armory's "find an upgrade" option has nothing.
Yes, there will be more, as Ghostcrawler mentioned in his hefty Death Knight post yesterday. You won't be stuck with the one you got at level 56 forever.
Pyril asked a pair(il, bahaha) of questions...
The portal in Stormwind by the flower vendor has been rumored to be a player housing zone. Is player housing ever going to be added in game?
Probably not. Blizzard's usual response to it is maybe they'll do it one day, but it's not high on their priority list. So no, we probably aren't going to see it, as sad as it makes me. Personally I'd be just fine with Guild Housing over Player Housing (maybe even happier that way), but I don't think we'll see that, either.
As a fun little note, they actually did do a little bit of work on player housing way back before WoW even launched, but it was dropped and I don't think they've touched it since.
With all the low level quests I missed making a Death Knight, is there a way to get these quests to show up as ! as they come into range, or an addon that will point them out?
No need for addons, you can just turn on Low Level Quest Tracking in the basic UI. You can find the little tracking button up by the minimap. The only downside to this is you can't have Find Herbs or things like that turned on at the same time. One or the other.

I have yet to get wrath (I know, "PRAISE BE") although I am getting it this thursday I was wondering about the new raiding system. Which is harder 10-man or 25-man like for example is the 10-man easier in the point that you need less players but harder as in they need to be more well geared? Or is the 25-man harder ?
DeathPaladin Dec 3rd 2008 3:05PM
I haven't done any raiding yet (first 80 in my guild, and while there are a few who are really close, so far the only). From what I've read, though, 25 is general "harder" in terms of monster size (as in you'd be in serious trouble if you tried to down them with only 10 people). However, the 10-man version, due to the smaller size of the raid, tends to be a little less forgiving and require more coordination.
That's just what I've read. Take with requesite salt.

The 10 man is easier in general. The 25 mans are considered "heroic" for a reason. Plus the loot in the 25 mans are better than the 10 man versions.
You could argue that 10 mans take a different skill set than the 25 mans and that makes them harder. The 10 mans seem to require more reliable players since the loss of one healer in a 10 man will most likely result in a wipe, whereas the loss of one healer in a 25 man will be less likely to result in a wipe.
I assume that if your just getting wrath now that you arent in a hardcore raiding guild and are just a casual player so I wouldnt expect you to worry too much about the 25 mans for awhile. I havent seen too many pugging a 25 man naxx, but i have seen plenty of 10 man naxx pugs.

It's much harder to do 10-mans because everyone has to do their job and do it well. Also, the individual DPS requirements to get some bosses down before the enrage timer, like Patchwerk, are lower than in the 10-man version.
Nick S Dec 3rd 2008 5:30PM
Generally speaking, the 25-man versions are harder - higher healing and DPS requirements, greater raid damage, more complex encounters. Patchwerk, for example, requires a better tank in the 25-man version to avoid straight insta-gibs, regardless of how much healing you have. However, there are certain 10-man encounters that are actually harder than their Heroic counterparts.
For example, Sartharion with all 3 drakes still up. In the 25-man version, it's safe to bring 4 or even 5 tanks to deal with all of the (fairly numerous) nuisances that having three drakes up entail. In the 10-man, though, bringing 5 tanks would be suicidal; you'd never beat the enrage timer. So in the 10-man super-challenge mode, a point is reached where there are just too many jobs for 10 people to do comfortably; that makes the encounter harder by sheer mechanics.

Is it possible to complete the various WotLK dungeon quests in Heroic mode? In BC, it wasn't and it ended up being very obnoxious to run through H Shadow Labs only to find that the Lexicon Demonica doesn't drop in that setting. :-/

I did two non-heroic Halls of Lightning quests on heroic, so I would assume it works for all of them.
Remua Dec 3rd 2008 3:50PM
All quests have worked fine for me so far, and you also get the regular dungeon achievement for clearing it on heroic, as well as the heroic acheivement.

I got a question..... what is "the guild"? somekind of nerd talkshow? :S
cjshrader Dec 3rd 2008 3:23PM
It's a show written by Penny from Dr. Horrible or the girl wearing a red shirt from a Sear's commercial or the girl in a Cheeto commercial about a guild. I enjoy it.
The entirety of season 1 can't be longer than 30 minutes, so just watch a few episodes and see if you like it.
Riftsrunner Dec 3rd 2008 3:53PM
"The Guild" is a web show based around a group of people who play an MMO (unnamed to not have to worry about copyright infringement) and what ensues when they meet in real life.
Fooliecoolie Dec 3rd 2008 4:31PM
"The Guild" is a web series created by actress Felicity Day. As cjsharder stated, she plays the main character's girlfriend Penny in the Joss Whedon's "Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog" web series. She was best known as Vi one of the awaken vampire slayers from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"

OK, seriously? It's Felicia Day.

I have been looking all over the place for good class specific blogs. I am a Rogue and read every Encrypted Text (as well as pretty much every other article on WoWInsider but I would also like to find a few rogue specific websites. Anyone know any? And more generally how about just a list of class specific blogs for all the classes.
Worcester Dec 3rd 2008 3:07PM
Not sure about blogs, but shadowpanther.net is a very good resource. I also thing Elitist Jerks has a lot of good Rogue info, but much of it is over my head.
Good luck!
hold up Dec 3rd 2008 4:01PM
Elitist Jerks is a really good place for rogues. They had massive amounts of spreadsheets and math forumlae.
Or you could just find "the best rogue" on your server and then armory them to find out what they are using. On Blackrock either Shynt from Death and Taxes or Puggi from Nurfed are pretty good resources to see what you should be focusing on.
And by looking at some characters I noticed that alot of the top players took up leatherworking for the wrist bonus. Makes me sad that I respec'd into enchanting before wrath came out. Should have read up on the Fur Lining enchant. Oh well, time to farm another 1000g for another respec.

So here's a question for the queue... I'm trying to get my explorer achievements. My map is entirely revealed, but I still haven't gotten the achievement to pop. Is there a site or addon that tells you the locations of all the points you need to discover? A list of specific coordinates would be really nice and save hours of riding in circles around greyed out areas of the map trying to get the map to reveal.
DeathPaladin Dec 3rd 2008 3:07PM
On the achievement menu, go to the Exploration tab, find the zone you are trying to explore, and click on it. Everything not in green still needs to be uncovered.
Helped me a lot when I was doing it, particularly with Bloodmyst, where there's one area that isn't obvious on the map because it's underwater and only shamen have any quests that go there.
Gnosh Dec 3rd 2008 3:07PM

look up the locations that are greyed out according to the achievement interface
