Majority of player base does not have a level 80 character
Vaneras on the EU forums this morning responded to some criticism that everyone is already 80, etc... He makes a few interesting points.First, he notes that they have internal numbers that the majority of players don't yet have a level 80 character. This might be a known or assumed fact by some, but for many of us it's interesting to hear Blizzard extrapolate on the issue.
Vaneras goes on to point out an important tidbit – don't assume just because all your friends are 80 that everyone else is as well. People that play all the time tend to gravitate towards other people that play all the time, and folks that only log on once or twice a week gravitate towards each other as well.
This means that just because everyone on your friends list is 80 doesn't mean the whole server is yet. I know that for myself nearly everyone's main is either 80 or high 70s now, and most have alts quickly getting up there in level too.
But then I'm reminded of my brother, who just dinged 77 a couple days ago.
This is also good to know as it means battlegrounds and Wintergrasp will be filling up more as a greater number of folks ding. That's only going to lead to more fun for everyone.

Since most of the people who play wow have multiple accounts it might mean that they just haven't leveled thier alts on other accounts yet. To Blizzard this looks like no level 80s on X account, but that doesn't mean that player has no level 80s.

Manatank: you think more than 50% of people are actually paying for two accounts? I doubt more than 10% are. Where are you getting your numbers?
Manatank Dec 4th 2008 7:23PM
Probably the same place you were. I made them up.

What's the point of this article?

I believe, although not apparent, this is levitating towards the argument that Wrath was/is easymode.
On a side note, I'm close to dinging 78. I'd be curious to see the number of level 80 characters 30 days after release.

To inform us that most of the players either have a life or are complete noobs.
I belive it's the reader's decision, in which he/she belives...

Yeah only the hardcore players are level 80. I had to take off for a week for holidays. If you think everyone is level 80 you may be only hanging out in the major new city.

The thing I took away was the reminder that casuals will eventually reach the level cap and start doing BGs again. The Alliance dominance in my battlegroup will end again. While the Alliance has the best players, the Horde has less bad ones. When the bad players hit 80 they are going to ruin it again.

Basically, Holisky writes these articles, and TONS of people click on them to read the juicy comments in which people rip him a new one.
A very efficient way to generate hits. Brilliant!

Damn, anyone else think that Adam should be held to one post a day? (If any at all...)

Adam "master of the blue tracker" Holisky is certainly no Allison Robert nor Jonathan Swift.
I have A Modest Proposal for the WI staff regarding his future.

it's irritating when all of my buddies think that the game is too easy if people have already cleared end game content. They follow online news articles on WoW and base all facts off of them.
can anyone point me to the article that states that those people who have cleared the endgame dont even make up 1% of the WoW population?
Netherscourge Dec 4th 2008 2:42PM
Adam is once again subtly poking at the "WOTLK IS TOO EASY" motif he started a few articles ago...
Maybe he's trying to make up for that horrible excuse of a troll article about WOTLK Raid difficulty?
Who knows.
I expect more QQ either way.

tl;dr version -
Not everyone on your server has a 80 character. It's common sense.
Rob Dec 4th 2008 2:47PM
Main: 70
Alt: 72
Casual player, and bored with it already.
