Will of the Forsaken nerf is a reason for quitting

Reader Dave M. sent this little gag to us from Blizzard's "Account Cancel" page. He was leaving the game (and frankly, we're sorry to see him go), and he noticed that if you choose "other" as the reason for leaving your account behind, you get another list of more wacky options. And among them (right between "All of my friends quit playing" and "Offline play not available") is that constant point of QQ: "Will of the Forsaken nerf."
Pretty funny that in terms of game mechanics, that's really the only listed reason for quitting ("it takes too long to move between regions" is in there as well, though it seems like a strange complaint that the game is too big). You'd think that the Ret Pally nerfs or Shaman QQ would at least be listed in there somewhere. But no, apparently for all the players that are saying "That's it, I quit" in response to nerfs, only the ones angry about the WotF nerf are actually doing it.

Have those changed in 2 years?

"Shaman QQ"
QQ over what? being too powerfull? Last nights raid on Naxx all Shamans held top DPS spots above, Mages, Warlocks, and Rogues.
Drow Dec 4th 2008 5:02PM
@2 LOL! That made me actually chuckle at work, stop!
Mages and Warlocks...the tank out DPS's them now haha!

As a die-hard shaman, now leveling my second after the initial trek through wrath on my main... I'm gonna have to agree shammys are downright awesome right now in raiding. PvP... well, not so happy there... but for raiding and PvE, I'm all about the shammy. Enhancement spec, for PvE, I can grind all day and night and never stop to drink or eat... :D (well except in RL of course)
Reylen Dec 5th 2008 10:19AM
But what if you don't want to be specced in enhancement? Sure shamans are fine healers for raids, but other than that....

"it takes too long to move between regions" is not a ridiculous complaint, as anyone that has ever played FFXI can easily tell you. WoW movement times can be a little long (depending on where you are going), but they aren't that bad. I'm kinda surprised they haven't sped up Gryphons or expanded the teleport system.
Kakistocracy Dec 4th 2008 3:40PM
Yeah, I wish they gave mages ports like the mages in Warcraft three had, being able to port to any friendly building would be nice.
Oneiroi Dec 4th 2008 6:17PM
I think it is bad. It's annoying to have to juggle hearthstones and workarounds to get back and forth between azeroth/northrend/outlands. And some of the flight times are still a bit ridiculous.
Well hopefully scrolls will help some. They should really make some teleport scrolls now.

Ultima Online had it down right.
Someone need to petition for the "/KalOrtPor" command...
Woot Dec 5th 2008 7:22AM
I always see you complaining about Shamans... seriously?
And if those three classes are out DPSed by Shamans, then that means the players were terrible.
Wyveryx Dec 4th 2008 3:52PM
I have to disagree...My mage though not well geared just yet can put out a steady 1900-2000 dps. I recently had to change specs from the lvl'ing grind to a more viable raiding spec, so that doesn't help.
But when the Tank does a considerable amount of overall damage than I do I think some review is needed.
It's not really about class mechanics, it's more about a Class's roll. If you wear Cloth, you're a squishy. If you wear Leather, you are somewhat squishy, all the way up to a plate wearing Meat shield.
If a class has to give up survivability with the loss of armor and stamina then there Damage and DPS SHOULD go beyond that of a tank.
I know threat mechanics are working better due to the increase of damage so I am not overly concerned, just stating my opinion.
DPS should go in order of:
1. Mage- Lack of constant Pet therefore above Locks.
2. Locks
3. Rogues/ DPS druid
3. Hunters- Below Locks due to the fact of wearing Mail armor.
4. Shaman- Both Elemental and Enchancement- again due to mail armor.
5. Death knight- new class so shares the same spot as a Ret Pally
5.Ret Palidan
6. Warrior- All specs.
yeah I know this is controversial, but that's my view. I know alot agree with me and have quit the game over it, or atleast rerolled to other classes because of disgust with their chosen class.

Our mages are pushing way more dps than a pathetic 2000. Come on, tanks do more than 2000dps, and dps in entry wrath raiding can be around 4k-5k dps. Mages, and warlocks can do this by the way. If you can't then work on your spec/rotation/gear.
I'm tired of hearing bad players of pure dps classes who have finally been exposed as bad players asking for nerfs of hybrids and tanks. Tanks in particular need that kind of dps to keep up their threat against dpsers who know what they are doing.
Tailchaser Dec 4th 2008 5:08PM
@Wyveryx
So I play a hunter so I should do less DPS? I am pretty sure in mail a boss will still 1 shot me, same as a mage or warlock.
Schadow Dec 4th 2008 7:09PM
@Wyveryx:
That's just silly. Your armor type shouldn't impact how much raid DPS you can do. Heck, if you look at some of the gear sets, clothies get more armour than rogues. Then there are the spells/skills you have that increase armour or decrease damage taken.
DPS should be based on utility. If you have a unitasker like a mage, he should be tops in DPS like the other unitaskers (rogues, warlocks, hunters). Next should be the hybrids (shamans, paladins, druids, death knights, warriors, priests).
If all you can do is DPS then you should be very good at it. If not, then the price for your utility should be paid on the damage meter.

On AoE trash. On boss rights Rogues should out-dps you any day.

That's funny, but it does make me curious. What is the popular opinion now, how do you think Will of the Forsaken compares with the human racial Every Man for Himself?
Will of the Forsaken Racial
Instant 2 min cooldown
Removes any Charm, Fear and Sleep effect.
Every Man for Himself
Instant 2 min cooldown
Removes all movement impairing effects and all effects which cause loss of control of your character. This effect shares a cooldown with other similar effects.
The reason I think the comparison is valid is because humans have a lot more racials than undead, and the biggest racial for undead is WotF.

Undead Racials: http://www.wowhead.com/?spells=-4&filter=ra=5
Markainion Dec 4th 2008 3:39PM
Human Everyman for himself, share a cooldown with BG tokens, witch made them wirthless to have. I dont think that the case for the will of the forsaken.
InnaJungleStylee Dec 4th 2008 5:35PM
@Markainion
I would be happy to have a free trinket slot during PvP as one of my racials, frankly. WOTF may not share a cooldown but it's also not as useful as EMFH.
I'd also LOVE Diplomacy. Too bad I play Horde. Que sera sera.
