WoW Moviewatch: Wrath of a Couch Potato
AFK Pl@yers over at Myndflame have created Wrath of a Couch Potato, inspired by Seth Green's acclaimed "Robot Chicken" series. The movie runs a little over 8 minutes in its entirety, and the experience is kind of intense. I suggest watching it somewhere you can really pay attention.
I hate to gush, but I really loved this movie. It's packed with laugh-out-loud moments, and each segment lasts only long enough to deliver a solid joke. The production values are through the roof. Each scene is well framed, and put together with an eye for detail. There's more than a few quotes in here that you can expect to permeat the Trade channel's zeitgeist for the next few months. So, to be fair, if you get annoyed by people endlessly quoting good machinima films, you might get annoyed from what comes out of "Wrath of a Couch Potato."

That. Was. Awesome.

Really? That was terrible, really. Almost every "scene" was boring and far too long. The only really funny scene was the lich king, and they didn't do enough with that.
And really, they could have easily done this in english, the "lol another language" aspect of it wasn't funny at all, and only made it harder to see what was going on.

Um...Astemus, these guys are from Taiwan. In case you didn't know this, they speak another language over there.
Malkavos Dec 4th 2008 2:42PM
Dear Astemus:
Pshh.

I would have liked it better in English. The subtitles go so fast I can't even look at the picture while I am reading them so I had no idea what was going on.

TELEZOMBIES!!!

I enjoyed this very much. Loved "Lich King / Lion King " bit, and the
druid "Transformer" approaching Dalaran.
That said; though like "Robot Chicken" this seems to be directly inspired by Oblith who beat these guy to the punch ages ago, with his "Never Stay Tuned" series of movies.
The gnome shot down from the cannon and consumed by the undead in the Wintergrasp scene was VERY much like Oblith's gnome used in the logo; beard, purple robes and turban. Homage or a playful poke?
At the end I noticed the TV image used there (at at the beginning) is also the same as the one used in the Oblith Machimas.
Hohen Dec 4th 2008 12:45PM
Clarification: The image OF the TV*, I should have said. The TV graphic itself, is that used by Oblith.
Wish this blog had a direct edit feature.

In the description, the creator does say it was also inspired by Never Stay Tuned and thanked Oblith for the cameo.

The Adventures of Prince Nefarian FTW!
Also, Lion King.
I hope they make more.

You may need to upgrade your flash player. Head on over to Adobe.com and download the latest version. My father had that problem watching a video on Ning so I told him to d/l the latest version of flash and that cleared it up.

Frickin amazing is all I gotta say. Now I'm gonna go watch some Robot Chicken... or play WoW... crap I need a TV in my office.
Gyroblade Dec 4th 2008 3:37PM
This video is awesome!
What is the "Resist all night long" song from? It's catchy.
Keyra Dec 4th 2008 5:44PM
These guys just keep getting better and better! The Lion/Lich King parody, though short, was enough to have me going from grinning to laughing hysterically and needing to back up the video so I could see what I missed!

ROFL!
It's even funnier if you know Taiwanese TV programs and the way they play around Chinese language.
Gavin Dec 4th 2008 10:22PM
Hey, this sucked as much as Robot Chicken....pointless crap.
bob Dec 5th 2008 5:21AM
Except that Robot Chicken rocks. So this must rock as well.
