Number 2: Boy feigns death during moose attack

December 5th, 2007: Boy attacked by moose feigns death, thanks WoW

A year and a day ago today, we stumbled across a note on our tipline about a Norwegian news site that was reporting a boy had survived a moose attack by "feigning death" as he'd seen in World of Warcraft "in level 30," punched out a little post about it, and things went off like a rocket from there -- Digg brought the story onto their front page, resulting in hundreds and hundreds of comments about how his sister never should have pulled aggro and how Hunters don't have a taunt, and lots and lots of other blogs and readers picking up the link and passing it around. To this date, I have never seen a sillier story from our site that spread faster than the moose story -- we've worked for hours on guides, features, and galleries, checked source after source to confirm exclusive leaks and information, and they've never garnered the attention that a little post with a few jokes and a Monty Python link in it did.

Wild story, and boy, did it spread like wildfire. It is pretty funny, though -- nowadays, he'd have been able to Disengage first and then FD (or maybe he'd just have a rhino available to tank it).
