The Queue: Tier 8, wormholes, and more
The above video is a video that has been posted very, very early in the Wrath beta, possibly even the alpha. Originally thought to be Tier 7, it's actually the next tier up, Tier 8. There are a few graphical glitches in the armor because it hadn't been fully implemented yet at the time the video was made. Your Hunter will not have big green squares sticking out of their head, I promise. I embedded it into today's post in response to Tanglebones's question:
Oh! I got a question. What the heck is Apothecary Putress wearing on his head, and where can i get one?
Watch the video and found out!
Covnam asked...
I hit 70 on my Mage shortly before Wrath came out, so I never graduated from normal dungeons to heroic dungeons and raids. Once I hit 80, where should I go? Do Heroic dungeons come first or 10/25 man raids? Also what type of stats would you recommend before running either of these types of end game content?
Wrath content is laid out a little differently from Burning Crusade content... but since you never did the BC Heroics it doesn't matter much! In Wrath, Heroics are a little bit easier than 10-man raids and the epics that drop in Heroics are about equal to the 10-man loot. Stats is really dependent on class, but I'd strongly recommend being in mostly level 80 blues before stepping into Heroics and Raids, and get as close to the hit cap as possible and you're set.
Bahzell asked...
What I'm really wondering is where the next engineering teleporter is? In Vanilla we had Gadgetzan or Winterspring, Burning Crusade was Blades Edge/Netherstorm. So where's the new teleports at?
In beta, there were spells added to the game files that seemed to suggest that Engineers wouldn't be getting new teleporters, but rather wormholes to portal an entire party/raid somewhere. Gadgetzan is the only town we saw for sure, I believe. These Wormholes never actually made it into the game, so the devs either decided against the idea or didn't have time to finish it. I imagine that if Engineers get a new portal in Wrath of the Lich King, it'll be the Wormholes.
Rasman asked...
I'm just right over the edge of getting my Epic Flying and Coldweather flying AND my epic mount and I know I can train for them all in Dalaran, instead of going all the way back to Shadowmoon Valley, BUT are there any cost effecient Epic flyers in Northrend that I can get, so I can avoid having to go all the way back to Shadowmoon, just to get a mount?
So far the cheapest I've seen is the Snowy Griffin in Dalaran at around 190g, with my current rep with the Kirin Tor.
The epic Snowy Gryphon is actually 1900g, you missed a zero. There's really nothing cheap in Northrend at all, the basic cheapo stuff is all back in Outland. In fact, that 1900g is probably one of the cheapest you'll find unless you get a lucky drop. Just set your hearth in Dalaran, take the Shattrath portal, fly out to Shadowmoon and hearth back when you've made your purchases. It will take fifteen minutes tops.

well played good sir well played (@mike)

What lag? Upgrade your PC. Dalaran looks amazing on my new rig and you can get a similarly specced setup from Dell for about 500 bucks. You can go even cheaper if you build it yourself.

No plate classes eh?

Is it possible to get the Icecrown quest acheivement without doing lots of 5 man quests? I seem to be stuck at around 119 quests done and can't find any more yellow exclamation marks - lots and lots of blue ones though.
jay Dec 6th 2008 11:43PM
The trend with quest achievements seems to be any combination of the available quests (all of these including group quests), quest item drops from mobs (ones that start quests, not the other way around) and dungeon quests activated through quest chains.
What im trying to say is, you do not have to do each and every single quest in an area to reach the maximum needed for an achievement, reason probably being not everyone is going to find all the random quest drops or do all or any of the dungeon quests.
kabshiel Dec 7th 2008 2:34PM
I didn't have to do every quest in Icecrown to get the achievement, but I had to do most of them. And yeah, that includes a lot of those 5-man group quests (most of which can be easily done with 3 or 4 people). It's really easy to find a group for them right now, so get cracking.

Hunters with green squares around their shoulders? =D I'm so happy, I never rolled one.
joerendous Dec 6th 2008 7:35PM

While sitting in Dalaran, every so often the ground shakes and I hear the unmistakable roar of a Fel Reaver. It freaks me out abit because I've learned to run when I hear that. I've tried several times to locate the source. What is it that makes that noise?
Falcio Dec 6th 2008 7:24PM
The roar is most likely the cause of a flier coming into Dalaran in a way other than the landing site. The roar happens to inform them that they're about to be dismounted.
As for the shaking, that also confuses me. I run around with a Devilsaur and I don't think it shakes the screen from what I can tell.
ellelia Dec 7th 2008 2:27PM
that all comes from when someone gets the firefly from the underbelly potion.
Eversor Dec 6th 2008 9:05PM
I believe the cause of screen shaking could be the crazy goldfarmers with their passenger mammoths.

Did leveling Skinning get a nice nerf? Last year I leveled up and it took forever, since at higher skills you have to skin more orange mobs to level up. Yesterday I leveled my DK from 1-300 in just a few hours.
Has anyone else seen this? Is it something that happened just to DK's, or is it true for all classes?
Leon Dec 6th 2008 8:57PM
It's still by far the easiest gathering profession...
Kurtosis Dec 8th 2008 3:52PM
Depends on the class. If you're an AoE'er, yes, skinning. If not, I'd argue Herbalism is faster. Don't have to kill stuff to gather.
Vortok Dec 6th 2008 8:33PM
From my experience, Skinning is a total breeze from 1-300 and 375-450. It's 300-375 (Outland) where it's annoying... since you don't actually always skill up on Orange things.

Are BG tokens and honor worthless now? Are we ever going to get BG armor for 80? I've searched and all I can find is stonekeeper shard vendors selling stuff (besides the PVE token vendors)
