That's such a stupid thing to say. WoW has one of the fastest combat systems going in MMO's, and i dont think he should have to settle for a lesser game just so he can enjoy a decent PVP system. Warcraft offers PVP aswell as PVE, so i don't think it's unreasonable to strive for PVP to be balanced in the game, as it would be pointless for it to be there otherwise.
