Wrath Dailies: Infused Mushroom Meatloaf
Let's take a look at the daily cooking quest "Infused Mushroom Meatloaf." But before we go into the quest details, ask yourself for a minute if you've ever had mushroom meatloaf. I can say that I haven't, and upon googling it I learned a bit more.A mushroom meatloaf is a meatloaf with about a half pound of minced mushrooms in it. The meatloaf itself is cooked and made just like a normal meatloaf, expect for the added mushrooms in it and sprinkled on top. Put some ketchup on it for added flavor.
I'm not a big fan of meatloaf or mushrooms (except on steak), so this isn't a favorite dish of mine. However the in game quest is.
Quest Giver: Awilo Lon'gomba (Horde) or Katherine Lee (Alliance)
Reputation: Kirin Tor
Reward: 150 rep, 9.9g at level 80, a Dalaran Cooking Award, a Small Spice Bag
Minimum Level: 65
Required Chain: Cooking at 375 or above.
Read on after the break for our walkthrough of the quest, complete with a few tricks you can do to get it done quickly and easily
Pickup the quest in Dalaran from either Awilo Lon'gomba located at 70, 38 if you're Horde, or from Katherine Lee located at 40, 65 if you're Alliance.
You're tasked with picking up four Infused Mushrooms from the Dalaran sewers and combining them in the deluxe Meatloaf Pan with 2 Chilled Meats.

The sewers are ripe with the mushrooms, however finding them is the hardest part of the quest. You'll need to go around the sewers multiple times in order to get all four. Expect to run into a bunch of other people along the way. There's always at least a half dozen to a dozen people doing the quest on my high population server.
The best places to get the mushrooms I've found has been behind the buildings near the walls. While there are mushrooms littering the hallways and docks they are usually the first to be farmed. So those tucked away in the nooks and crannies are the best bet.
The other component to this is the Chilled Meats. You'll want to have a lot of these saved up. The best way to do that is to just farm them for an hour once a week. This quest only needs two of them, so the requirement isn't too stiff.
Once you've gotten the mushrooms and Chilled Meats, combine them up and head on out to turn the quest in. You'll be rewarded with a Dalaran Cooking Award and a Small Spice Bag along with some Kirin Tor rep and gold.
If you're doing the quest while leveling, expect to get around 15,500 experience.
New dailies abound and you'll want to get in on the ground floor to raise those critical reputations up! Check out WoW Insider's continuing series of Wrath of the Lich King daily quests.Filed under: Walkthroughs, Quests, Cooking

It's always a good day when the quest rewards 2 cooking rewards (which they seem to randomly do) and you get another one in your spice bag...free recipe!
CSJenova Dec 8th 2008 9:10AM
You get 2 awards for the mustard dogs quest :)
The other 3 only give 1, but that one gives double for whatever reason.
Zummers Dec 8th 2008 9:29AM
Mustard dogs gives 2, probably because it uses Rhino Meat instead of Chilled Meat. Extra farming = extra reward.
JPN Dec 8th 2008 9:51AM
Thanks - I never noticed a pattern that that quest gave 2.

if youre a herbalist, think it only applies to us, you can track them
makes it so much easier to find the mushrooms, works on teh carrots for the other daily as well
Chris Anthony Dec 8th 2008 9:18AM
Yes, it's just herbalists. Find Herbs reveals the location of the Infused Mushrooms for Infused Mushroom Meatloaf, the Crystalsong Carrots for Sewer Stew, and the Wild Mustard for Mustard Dogs!.
My wife couldn't figure out why I didn't loathe these quests until she started doing them on her herbalist...

I'm curious why this guy just isn't as huge as a mammoth. It seems infused mushroom meatloaf is chosen as the daily an awful lot.
MechChef Dec 8th 2008 9:19AM
I'm with you on not being a huge mushroom or meatloaf fan. Meatloaf is okay, but even the ones people have described as "fantastic," it's still boring old meatloaf. Mushrooms in limited quantities are okay, lightly sauteed, or as a pizza topping with other items. But this would seems like it's way over my tolerance level.

I actually thought the same way. My girlfriend surprised me one night with a turkey-mushroom meatloaf (uses ground turkey instead of ground beef). The mushrooms actually are not very discernible , but add a flavor that is hard to emulate, especially if you season to a more traditional meatloaf flavor, with heavy influence from onion and garlic.

that picture does not look appetizing at all, ahhh
I always try to do dailies in the morning before I head to work (and do mining) there is basically no one online and the whole map is littered with titanium ore and all the things you'd need for quest objectives and daily objectives

I'm sure the meatloaf pictured is delicious (though meatloaf isn't the most photogenic of dishes to start with), however that's what you get without professional food photography.
Mixa Dec 8th 2008 9:44AM
Ketchup alone on meatloaf is so boring.
Mix ketchup, mustard and brown sugar together, heat until sugar is fully dissolved, smear on your meatloaf, profit!

I love this dish in real life, but I feel bad everytime I finish this queset knowing I picked mushrooms from the SEWER that was growing from Ronin's FECES. That and when I have to gather wine from half full glasses...hope no one had a cold sore!
Is there anyway you could so some daily's that require some thought to them? Like any tricks to the harpoon one for the Ebon Blade in Icecrown, or better yet the mount ones like defending Wyrmrest or Ace's High (which takes a precise rotation) in Coldarra? Maybe even tips on how to beat the achievment timer? Thanks!
JPN Dec 8th 2008 11:00AM
I agree. They've kinda mixed them - before, you could usually farm the mats, make the food, then just turn it right into the Rokk right away when you got the quest each day. These, you either have to collect around Dalaran or below. These will get insanely boring by the time I buy all these recipes. Or maybe they can add more quests...throw 5 or 10 more in the mix instead of the same 5.

Rhonin has magical poops.
Agent StanSmith Dec 8th 2008 9:58AM
Mmmm....sewer mushrooms. And with enough spices, you can almost not taste the feces.
Hudders Dec 8th 2008 9:58AM
Mustard Dogs is worse for number of people doing it at the same time. :o(
kangshi Dec 8th 2008 10:23AM
especially with that one mustard spawn near the tower that is buried under a rock. can you get that one? i assume you can because it isn't there when i do it 30 minutes later on another character.
Mitawa Dec 8th 2008 10:14AM
You know, I saw the picture and without stopping to read the title assumed this was a 'Well Fed Buff' column post?

Heh, I was getting more and more frustrated with all the background stuff, and then the recipe never came! lol

You can also get a bonus Dalaran cooking award from the small spice bag. I've gotten two thus far while one guildie has gotten a handful this way and another has yet to see a bonus award at all... I guess it comes down to the all powerful RNG and how it's feeling towards you on any given day.
I was really hoping for the Rhino meat quest or a bonus award today, but I had no such luck. As it stands, I'm one award shy of buying my next recipe and cooking my 30th Northrend meal. And with that completed, I'll earn my Cook title. Woot!! I'm looking forward to tomorrow (after the maintenance, of course).
