I have to disagree with you on how common shadow is. If anything, it's right up there with Earth. All I do is go to my local miner friend, as they have stacks of them from farming Saronite. there's a reason Earth and Shadow are only 10G a piece on out AH.
Now I'm not sure how hard it is to farm if you're not a miner...but why bother? Most miners have so much of this stuff they practically give it away.

Agreed. As a miner, I have tons of Shadow, and if AH prices are an indicator of rarity, then there is no way the author's assessment is accurate, as Eternal Shadow sells very cheaply. Air, Life, and to a lesser extend Water and Fire are the best sellers, while Shadow sells for only a little more than Earth. It probably comes down to a server by server thing. If there are few miners on a server, Shadow is likely much more expensive.
