You are complaining about a lack of +hit on items while admitting to playing PVE with a PVP spec that passes up the one talent available to rogues that increases chance to hit (Precision). What's up with that? It's not that I don't think you have a valid point but since you made an appeal to Blizzard about it... if I was that developer I'd be a bit perplexed. You're asking for something quite specific that's already been given to you once and you ignored it that time.Since it turns out that some of the heroics are actually pretty challenging in starter 80 gear I'd strongly recommend trying out the http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=f0ef0exoVboIzAo0xV0hZxb (51/13/07) spec. I hope I never have to go back to Combat, I find this Mutilate spec so much more fun.Re: the HaT spec. I could be wrong on this but if you're running heroics I don't think you'll see the spec live up to the hype. It seems to depend on having a raid group stacked with the right classes that enable you to basically spam finishers ad nauseum.

I never used Precision much at 70, only when I randomly spec'd Combat for a raid or something. I was always ShS / Hemo or Mutilate. And even without Precision, I never needed any fancy gear to reach the special hit cap. They took it off my engineering helmet, etc. I don't mind knowing I need to put some extra effort in to get there (I used +hit gems) but I just want to know that I can get there without relying on cheesy gear that I use ONLY because of the hit.

Also, HaT is group-only not raid-only, so it can still perform in a 5man setting. The trick is having the right group. Warlocks are bad classes to have in your party, and BM hunters become your best friends. :)

Hay! That's my spec! I enjoy it too. I like that it's like a big "MAKE ASPLODE" button when I'm out doing a few quests, and that it's the perfect build to utilize Tricks of the Trade when I'm in a group.Such a refreshing change over the endless SS/Rupture rotations of my Combat Swords career.

That's not a "great" rogue trinket. It's a weak option to compensate for what sounds like some bad gear and talent choices. You know why there are so few items with hit on them? It's because Blizzard made precision a tier 1 talent and has the expectation that because it's so easily accessible now, every rogue build will include it. And they're right, because every build should, pvp or pve.And haste is not the worst DPS stat we have. That spot is reserved for the now-garbage armor penetration. The changes they made to the armor pen mechanics have gutted it from being a decent stat with fantastic increasing returns to a weak stat with linear returns (and a sharp decrease in relative value in the presence of similar effects like sunder or expose armor).

If you PvE and want hit, spec Precision. Otherwise you have no business writing a rogue column. Sheesh, man, rogues like you are the reason people hate us. Instances in PvP gear, lacks PvE stats, too damn lazy to spec into talents that help out in PvE.

Chase,Your goal is not merely to reach the special hit cap. Any miss, special or auto-attack, is a lost chance to process Focused Attacks.I don't doubt that you can raid without Precision in any spec that you want to raid with and be successful. The bottom line, however, is that you would have and will benefit from approaching the hard hit cap on auto-attacks. If you attained good DPS without it, you would have attained better DPS with it.Regarding HaT, the same logic applies. Yes, you can use it in a group, but to achieve the maximum effect that all the theorycrafting rogues are talking about these days you want to be placed in a group which makes no compromises in critical hit potential. The average 5 man instance group must make a compromise in this respect in order to be a functional, self-sufficient group. If you intend to wax theorycraft in your column you owe it to your readers to understand these concepts a little better lest you lead some of them astray.

@DersundeSeeming the new white hit cap is 755 with precision it's pretty much impossible to hit the cap. The spell cap is all anyone needs to hit anymore, after that point other stats like agi, ap, expertise & crit all become more valuable.Do your homework before you start telling other people that they are lacking in theorycrafting knowledge.

I am aware of the caps but if you mean to imply that Precision can be safely passed by I would disagree with you. Since the other statistics carry more weight past the spell hit cap it's even more important to pick up Precision so that you can gem and enchant for those stats instead of wasting them on hit rating when a huge 5% has already been given to rogues for a mere 5 talent points.I can see how my previous post might have confused this matter, however. Thanks for pointing that out.
