Hunter pet oozes with charm

The Spirit of Ha-Khalan was tameable, so some Hunters got really cool, transluscent crocolisk pets. I mean, who needs Spirit Beasts? Entertainingly enough, the other two quest mobs were also classified as beasts and were likewise tameable. Eventually some Hunters were running around with a spooky hydra or, like my friend, a disgusting little pile of snot.
Aside from waiting for the right daily quest, these pets aren't nearly as hard to tame as the ghost wolves of yore. Will Blizzard let Hunters keep their slimy little companions just as some lucky few were able to keep their spirit guides? We'll see. Hopefully. What's so wrong about a slime that thinks it's a crocolisk, anyway? The pets are considered Crocolisks and share Crocolisk family traits, with the Bad Attitude special ability and Tenacity talent tree.

Those pets will probably be removed from the hunters who have them with 3.0.4 similar to how the snake pets were removed back in vanilla WoW.
Rankin Dec 10th 2008 9:09PM
The snakes weren't removed from hunters, they were merely rendered unfeedable. This kept them from gaining happiness and thus made it very difficult to keep them out for general usage.

@Rankin, it was easy to keep them happy with BG rezzes increasing pet Happiness. And now with the new pet talents, you hardly ever have to feed your pet to keep its happiness up. Simply making the pet unfeedable would not keep hunters from being able to keep it.

I think Mania's arcania (petopia) reported this some time ago.
I've had mine for a long time now. Its a cool skin but at the end of the day its still a Croc. Still if you need a level 80 pet and don't want to level one @ -5 levels, it works.
I kept my ooze in storage for now. I'm waiting to see if Bliz takes it away before I get attached.

I'd tame one on my hunter, but I don't know if ditching a raptor is worth it... Are crocolisks any good? I've never tested one out and my stable is full. I also have a feeling they'll be turned into regular crocolisks or something eventually when Blizzard comes along to fixing it.

That's not all of them - I saw a hunter in Dalaran walking around with a pet (wolf?) that had a daily quest. I didn't pay close attention at the time (I'm a Paladin, I don't know pets from whatever), but it sounds like the same bug...

Well I went and got the hydra, and I must admit, I love her! Bad attitude is totally underrated, tho I do have to go and respec her. It's trial and error. I really hope they do let us keep them. For now, I enjoy the tells and stares I get :o) After all, that's why we hunters choose our different pets, *because* they're so different. And who doesn't love an identity-confused pet? Personality galore! :oD

Or if you're on Shadow Council, you sit around for two weeks as EVERY daily but A Cleansing Song shows up, sending sad hunters asking on General chat for days. -_-
Starfiyre of Shadow Council Dec 10th 2008 8:38PM
Our server has a bad bad habit of repeating quests over and over and over....
I'm sick of the meatloaf cooking daily, for the love of Thrall, can we have the Mustard and Dogs one already!?!
JuicedCardinal Dec 11th 2008 12:40AM
I have yet to see the meatloaf daily on my server. Stupid dailies...
Vendrill Dec 11th 2008 6:26AM
Yeah, onShadow Council, the cooking dailies have been the SAME 2 for almost 2 weeks... carrots andmushrooms!
Good thing that i already got the achievement.
Feel bad for those who haven't.
ChiperSoft Dec 10th 2008 8:00PM
Damn... wish my hunter was 80.
flameflash82 Dec 11th 2008 2:54PM
Ditto.

Someone was walking around Dalaran (in Firetree) with a nice Shark following him (yes, SHARK.) And he was close to the Bank, so...
[I'm guessing it was the critter bites, though]
gundamxzero Dec 11th 2008 11:52AM
Critter bites cant get you a shark.......

SSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Theres no Oozes Hydras or Ghostly Crocs here blizz. Keep moving, nothing to see.
I named my Hydra Glitch. I do love the way the heads fight and snap at eachother. though he only gets used when i solo, The hydras are really loud
Keyra Dec 10th 2008 8:50PM
I WANT A DISGUSTING LITTLE PILE OF SNOT!!!
Okay, so my main isn't a hunter, but my alt is...although she's not level 80 (and won't be anytime soon), but she's half-way there!
Come to think of it, my alt is actually higher level now than my main. Does that still make her my alt? The mind boggles...
(backs away from the keyboard and opens a beer)

I just helped a guildy tame the hydra today. :D
The slime and the hydra will probably have their models changed to crocolisks eventually, but it's nice to enjoy them while they're here.
What they did with the snakes that were made untameable back in the day was make the hunter unable to feed them any food. This meant that they would eventually run out of happiness and run away. Since pets can't run away anymore and have other ways of gaining happiness, this probably won't be blizzard's method of correcting the bug.
cowy Dec 10th 2008 9:16PM
Sometimes if you look at the hydra and try to imagine the center head as the "head" and the two other heads as the "arms" it looks like the heads having an argument with two hand puppets. :P
Maybe I'm the only one that can see that. >_>;;
Keyra Dec 10th 2008 9:19PM
No, you're not the only one who sees that - I thought the same thing near Blackfathom Deeps several months ago! LOL!
