PTR Download is up, even though you probably don't realize it

However once you download the version above, run the installer, and then run the game you'll be presented with the requirement to download another patch. This patch will bring you up to the latest 3.0.8 version of PTR client.
To put it another way: the version you get from the official download page will be updated upon installation. Just because it's old doesn't mean it's wrong.
This took Alex Ziebart and I a bit to realize, and we wanted to be sure that we shared this with you right away. Enjoy your PTRing!
We should note that the server names are a bit odd right now, but Alex is on the 3.0.8 PTR with his character he copied over earlier.
Edit: Pukka clears up the situation a bit more for us nicely: "Unless you were in the beta, you will not be able to access any WotLK content (or characters above 70 for that matter). Also, on the copy page, PvE lands you on a Spanish PvP server, and PvP lands you on a US English PvE server."

NOTE:
Unless you were in the BETA, you will NOT be able to access any WotLK content (or characters above 70 for that matter).
Also, on the copy page, PvE lands you on a Spanish PvP server, and PvP lands you on a US English PvE server.

If that is true (especially the inability to test any form of Northrend content), then that is lame.
I wasn't picked for the WotLK beta, but I have the expansion...

No idea what you are talking about, beta users can't play at all.

Maybe you're right, maybe it's just a coincidence that I can login to my BETA activated accounts, and my non-BETA activated accounts I am told that I need to contact billing when attempting to login to my 80.

Whats the Point of having the PTR if i copy over my lvl 80 and cant test things in Northrend?
Ryouga Dec 12th 2008 11:19PM
I copied a toon over and can't do anything.
Toon is locked and you are asked to contact Billing.

Duncello Dec 12th 2008 11:28PM

Well, when you try to get on the PTRs (including copying your characters) before the official announcement that they're open, you should expect nothing to go smoothly. The PTR forum is still locked and full of the bugs from the last PTR cycle, so that should have been a big hint that it's not ready to go.

The PTR at this point seems to be just useful to bored people with lvl 80's since unless you really have nothing to keep you occupied on the live there's no point since the changes by and large (except for Hunters) are so minor that they're "who cares" issues.
Oh of course also people who just like exploring the new changes and bugs both fixed and created by the new version.

"This took Alex Ziebart and I a bit to realize"
Should that be "Alex Ziebart and me", or "me and Alex Ziebart", or is it actually correct as it is?
I don't know for sure myself, but it sounds wrong as-is (not being facetious).
Talia Dec 13th 2008 1:20PM
"Alex Ziebart and me" would be correct. Take out the other person's name, and decide if you would say "I" or "me" if it's just you you're talking about.

The EU site doesn't even have the PTR Patch notes up, never nimd the Downloader. Blizzard always neglects the EU.
