Breakfast Topic: What's the First thing you did when you got to Dalaran?

Everywhere you turn, there's something interesting going on, and every shop has its own life. The Architecture is an amazing blend of human and elven styles that looks to have organically evolved from a rich magical culture, and the atmosphere is lively without descending into the constant laughing and lag inducing sparring of the Aldor and the Shattered Sun Offensive that plagued Shattrath's outer ring. It also feels livelier and more city-like than Shattrath's strangely alien fortress and adjoining shanty town.
With that in mind, the first time I got to Dalaran on Beta, I definitely did a lot of just running around, taking in everything and searching through the nooks and crannies... and taking the time to /rude that Mary Sue, Rhonin. After all that, I went and bought myself an ultra cool Ghostly Skull from the sewers for my pet collection. I have yet to decide if he's more of a Murray or a Morte though.
So I'm interested to know, besides running around and gaping at the pretty scenery, what was the first thing you did in Dalaran? What was the first gadget or trinket you indulged in? How magical was your first trip?

An absolute nightmare, my computer can't handle it and I can't afford any upgrades
I avoid going to Dalaran like the plague, my FPS drops to 1 and 2

Turn off shadows. It'll boost fps by a massive amount.

Shadows are off, every single video setting is on it's lowest
Still makes no difference, 512mb RAM and a bad graphics card can't really handle Dalaran in it's ugliest form
PimpyMicPimp Dec 14th 2008 8:39AM
Stick to Pac Man imo

@PimpyMicPimp : shut up.
I'm in approximately the same boat - 512 of ram, and a geforce 4 ti 4200 video card. Obsolete stuff.
The only way i found to go to dalaran without getting instant-disconnected is to deactivate a few addons, principally QuestHelper, who use tons of memory compared to all of other addons.

1. Take a break from WoW.
2. Get a job.
3. Earn some money.
4. Upgrade your computer.
5. Quit job and go play WoW again.

yeah... i know how it feels, even though i have 2 gb of ram ive got an intel gma 950, the ram helps handling dalaran, but its still laggy :(

Aged 15 and in the middle of important exams, getting a job isn't really something I'm looking to do anytime soon

Yup. The first thing I did when I got to Dalaran? Get the flight path. The second? Leave.

Set my hearth to the inn, wandered around, and bought a ghostly skull and a bear mount.

First thing in Dalaran: (Boring stuff) Set Hearthstone and get FP. Then (more fun stuff), check everything out, mount person, and bg place with Lake Wintergrasp.

I bought a train set. It has always brought a good laugh in raid. It was well worth the money.

Guildies started trying to drag me to this strange place through ports and summons and bg queues during the leveling process. I wouldn't have it...I wanted to level and that was all. After like...40 hours, I finally gave in and slept a bit so I took a queue. I think the first thing I did was realize that it was a pretty small city to be the hub for an entire expansion(I think I saw somewhere between 80 and 90 percent of players are between 70 and 80). Then I went looking for the fountain to start some fishing fun.
After 20 minutes of trying to fish with my hat, pole, and lure with me still have the BC max skill, I decided to find the forge and jump into blacksmithing. I went to bed shortly after. It wasn't that spectacular really.
