Breakfast Topic: What's the First thing you did when you got to Dalaran?

Everywhere you turn, there's something interesting going on, and every shop has its own life. The Architecture is an amazing blend of human and elven styles that looks to have organically evolved from a rich magical culture, and the atmosphere is lively without descending into the constant laughing and lag inducing sparring of the Aldor and the Shattered Sun Offensive that plagued Shattrath's outer ring. It also feels livelier and more city-like than Shattrath's strangely alien fortress and adjoining shanty town.
With that in mind, the first time I got to Dalaran on Beta, I definitely did a lot of just running around, taking in everything and searching through the nooks and crannies... and taking the time to /rude that Mary Sue, Rhonin. After all that, I went and bought myself an ultra cool Ghostly Skull from the sewers for my pet collection. I have yet to decide if he's more of a Murray or a Morte though.
So I'm interested to know, besides running around and gaping at the pretty scenery, what was the first thing you did in Dalaran? What was the first gadget or trinket you indulged in? How magical was your first trip?

I was one of the first people to manage to get inside Dalaran on my server. Some friends of mine went into Icecrown, died, flew into Wintergrasp on the ghost flying mounts, rezzed there then took the portal from Wintergrasp into Dalaran since Horde held the fortress at the time. Then they just used the BGs to get a bunch of us in.
When I finally got into the city I ran around like a mad monkey looking at EVERYTHING and reading as many of the achievement books as I could. I got two. :( Then I bought a train set and a ghost skull. Then just bound my hearthstone, grabbed the flightpath and did a "DOH!" when I realized I didn't have any connecting flight paths! >_

The first thing I did was find the mage trainer and then went to the quartermaster and bought the taberd.

I set my hearth.

Let's face it, danny boy, they let the horde come into dalaran because they knew if they didn't, we'd just raze the city to the ground again.

Damn Straight!

First thing: set my HS there, then secondly: put all my settings to minimum to avoid the fact that running from the inn to the portals takes me 15minutes
mad at dalaran Dec 14th 2008 12:29PM
Filed a ticket telling Blizzard to reduce the graphical richness and make it more functional. I'd rather be in old world cities because they work. I've always hated being in Shatt due to the lag. Dalaran is worse.

set my hearth, got the flight path and bought a bear mount. Then I went exploring. :)

Got to Dalaran the day after Wrath's Release, bought the traveler's mammoth. Still love it to this day.

I enjoyed the silence, the peace of being one of only a handful of people to actually be IN the city when I first got there. I actually wish I had taken better advantage of that looking back.
But yeah, Portal trainer was first thing for me. Then I walked around and look at all the various shops and scenery. I probably walked around for a good hour or two.
Still miss those empty streets, for today, Dalaran is wall to wall people, which is still exiting in a lot of ways. You end up face to face with people you run into in the world more often in this city than Shatt I think. I really love the atmosphere of Dalaran on my server anywho.
I also think the ambient sound of Dalran is spectacular, it SOUNDS like a city. Listen to it some time.

The first thing I did apon entering Dalaran at lvl 71, apart from setting my heathstone, is fish for the Giant Sewer Rat.
It took me 16 hours.

I was the first one in Dal on my server (about 3 hours into launch, I was 71 mage and made my way to Dal).
So what did I do... got smashed, put on my Brewfest Gear, and danced the night away.
Odd seeing the city empty like that though.

Disabled my addons because WoW locked up and then proceeded to timeout every time I tried to log back in. Dalaran doesn't like < 2GB of RAM.
BooMsx Dec 16th 2008 1:16AM
First thing i did was that i picked up my cooking daily ^_^
Heleriath Dec 14th 2008 2:28PM
Morte all the way. Planescape was like the coolest game ever!

After I reset my video stream so I could actually do something other than run in place, I took a photo of one of my guild hunters who has a polar bear pet and got the 4th anniversary pet. It was one of those, "Awwwwww" shots. Then, her hubby, also in the guild, told me to jump off "this balcony here" but neglected to say it was a looooooonnnnnggggg way down. After that, I went to the mount vendor and got my bear.

Spent 750 g on my Armored Brown Bear.
Then spend 250 g on the Toy Train Set.
Then went to the sewers... just cuz.
Dalaran is far above my favorite city in WoW it feels so alive and awesome and a character all its own.
Kai Dec 14th 2008 2:34PM
I got there early in the expansion, looked at the lightly trafficked streets and thought "It's nice now, but I wonder what this will be like when it's full and every second person is riding a mammoth?"

first thing i did was offer to help guilides get there too by bg port. When no one wanted to i went and bought the bear mount and than i set hearth and than i did quest so i could get back there and than i looked around the sewers and bought the ghostly skull vanity pet and than i went to wintergrasp to buy my baby shark pet which was not there and than i went back to questing in Howling Fjord :)
