Breakfast Topic: Happy Winter's Veil!
Ah, the sights, scents, and sounds of Winter's Veil: the gingerbread cookies, the eggnog, the beautifully-wrapped presents beneath the tree, bestowing cheer unto all in addition to -- coal? I wanted a Clockwork Rocket Bot! Man, screw this holiday. When's the Lunar Festival coming?Ignoring all the usual bah-humbuggish sentiments to which one might be prone during this wonderful and joyous holiday season (hmph), Winter's Veil seems to be one of the ingame events with the most staying power. There's not a single month out of the year where I haven't seen someone rolling around on a reindeer mount courtesy of a Preserved Holly, or a snowman suddenly pop in the middle of a raid while people are waiting for buffs. This year the new Winter's Veil achievements will ensure these items and quests get even more traffic than they have previously, so you can bet that both the 2008 holiday -- and older content, in the form of Fa-la-la-la-Ogri'la -- are going to be well-trod.
As for me, well, my shaman wants a rocket bot. My druid hopes for peace on Azeroth and good will towards all men (and cows, and space goats, and dwarves, and...). My warrior would like a new sword. My warlock wants to see the world burn. I'm not entirely certain how to balance these competing desires, but I'll be keeping an eye on the gifts under Orgrimmar's tree.

My Shaman wants to know why all the sudden she got stronger sometime around November 13. Oh, and a pony.
Wait, she got one.

I want a pony. A big, freakin', fire-snortin' undead pony. Sigh...too bad I'm a rogue...warlocks get such a cool mount. Me? I get a big purple chicken.
It was weird. This morning, I had just hearthed back to the inn, was minding my own business, getting ready to leave when two people in green fuzzy hats suddenly popped into existence right in front of me and started laughing and having a good time. NOT the thing to see when you're half awake and still on your first cup of coffee!

I'm a rogue with a fire-snortin' undead pony. :)
Thank you, Headless Horseman.

Winter Veil ain't started yet on my server. When's it supposed to start?
rosencratz Dec 15th 2008 8:51AM
I believe it's meant to start 6am server time, so it depends largely on which server you connect to.

I love Winter Veil. Now I have to get a Christmas hat, which never dropped for me before. And because of the achievements system this year, everybody in the bgs are going to look like Christmas gnomes! Wish there were transformers IN the bgs. Good luck to all the Merrymaker wannabes! This has always been my favorite event ingame.
DigitalMonitor Dec 15th 2008 9:45AM
"Wish there were transformers IN the bgs."
"Autobots, roll out!".. that would be awesome!
prudychick Dec 15th 2008 8:59AM
Happy Winter's Veil to all.
Flint Dec 15th 2008 9:33AM
Well, the new achievements system certainly has got all the entrepreneurs on the move: small eggs and wool cloth are 25-30 gold in AH on my realm.
Jason Dec 15th 2008 10:31AM
Yeah, the cheapest were 2-3g on mine...I just went outside Silvermoon City and killed 6 Dragonhawks for 9 Small Eggs, which should take care of my cooking and cookie needs.
Amaxe Dec 15th 2008 10:51AM
only 90s on mine... or that was what I had to undercut to to sell my leftovers after getting the cooking achievement
Flint Dec 15th 2008 9:37AM
Oh, and as for my winter veil plans - try and get one of the minipets from the presents, and on the other hand buy some minipets myself from vendors, wrap them up and give to characters who've just started their game in Dun Morogh where my main started his adventure all that time ago.
