New tanking enchants added in patch 3.0.8
It seems the devs took notice of the fact that many important Tanking enchants were just plain missing from Wrath, because we're getting a couple of new ones in patch 3.0.8. At the price of 5 Abyss Crystals each, you can buy the following formulae from the Shard Trader in Dalaran:- Enchant Weapon - Titanguard: Teaches you how to permanently enchant a melee weapon to increase Stamina by 75. Requires a level 60 or higher item. Editor's Update: Please be aware this enchantment has been removed.
- Enchant Bracer - Major Stamina: Teaches you how to permanently enchant bracers to increase Stamina by 40. Requires a level 60 or higher item.
The Bracer enchant is a 28 stamina over Burning Crusade's equivalent: Enchant Bracer - Fortitude. That's quite the jump. While neither of these enchantments are especially interesting due to the lack of procs and things like that, they're definitely very good and I fully expect tanks to be scrambling for them as soon as patch 3.0.8 goes live.

I know atleast 2 tanks that will be happy for the Titanguard enchant :P

Good to have these enchants, but the bracer one makes LW that much less appealing...Bleh.
Robert M Dec 15th 2008 5:46PM
Don't be upset about the LW for 90 stamina, the best a BS can hope for now with his own special "add-a-socket" is +30 stamina with the epic Solid Majestic Zircon.
Add that most tanks (that can parry anyway) are going to want the armsmen glove enchant and the 2 nifty abilities that we get from our profession are easily overshadowed by enchants. At least your 90 stamina from fur lining is
1) 90 freaking stamina
2) Still better than the enchant
3) Something you can do entirely on your own since even after a BS sockets the gear he will have to purchase a gem

Additional sockets stack with other enchants. You can have both the extra socket and Major Stamina on your wrist item.

The titanguard enchant will be nice on my 49 druid =)
Rowtan Dec 15th 2008 5:17PM
The item has to be level 60 or above to accept the enchant.

Like... this?
Enchanted Azsharite Felbane Staff
Lvl 45 required for quest.
iLvl 60 weapon
...Boosh.
Blake Dec 15th 2008 5:55PM
Not ilvl, level. Requires level 60.
Achelous Dec 15th 2008 6:03PM
Try it :)
Dan Dec 15th 2008 9:37PM
Yes, it is indeed iLvl, not required level. No need to make snarky reply comments when you don't know what you're talking about.
epic Dec 16th 2008 2:59PM
and which tooltip in wow has ever referred to a items iLVL...outside of 3rd party addons and scripting iLVL is not even a valid stat in vanilla WOW ui....get a clue
JBurg Dec 15th 2008 5:22PM
Very nice for warriors and paladins. Especially once they add the new +40 block value plate to their shields. Unfortunately, druid tanks are already swimming in stamina and don't really need any more. Guess it is still "mongoose" for them.
barnoc Dec 15th 2008 5:23PM
Did this just make dual wielding required for DK tanks?
kesherz Dec 15th 2008 6:19PM
No, because the new DK runeforge is much better for tanking.
Zane Dec 16th 2008 10:07AM
Also, the new runeforge is for 2H only, and is better for tanking
doublej Dec 15th 2008 5:42PM
rather have an updated +++agil to 2H for my druid. doesn't look like this is for 2H anyway?
Zanjati Dec 15th 2008 5:38PM
Nope - the new Runeforge grants 25 defense SKILL, not rating, and 2% stam to 2H weapons ONLY. The DK talent trees do not support DW tanking, and Ghostcrawler posted they have no intentions of changing that.
Robert M Dec 15th 2008 5:54PM
Don't you find it somewhat interesting that they are now saying they don't intend for DK tanks to DW considering
1) there is a DW talent in the "tanking" tree (Nerves of Cold Steel)
2) they never intended to make tanking 2 handers and now have added a rune to alleviate a problem they didn't think would exist (say maybe because they intended for dks to DW tank in the beginning)
I am lead to believe that Blizzard intended for dks to DW tank all along and they elitistjerks out there proved how vulnerable a DK would be with if they were swinging 2 weapons like mad and getting parried. Not that I dont't think they are doing a good job to fix the mistake, just find it funny they are pretending like they saw this coming all along.

It's a common misconception that frost is "the tanking tree." When DK was first announced it was intended for frost to be the tanking tree, but this plan was scrapped during development and instead they made each tree fairly equal at tanking. Although I think most would argue that the better tanking tree currently is Unholy (bone shield is great).
