Relics of Ulduar and Iron Boot Flask changed in patch 3.0.8

That price makes a whole lot of sense for an item like this, to be honest. Similar items, the Orb of the Sin'dorei and the Orb of Deception are both pretty rare. It's unusual that this one was so cheap, but it's probably a side effect of the item originally only having one charge in earlier incarnations of the item. Nowadays it has infinite uses but with a cooldown, so that higher price is deserved. You still have a chance to get it before the price change, and I really recommend you do. Especially when you consider the other change coming to the Relics and the Sons of Hodir.
Sons of Hodir reputation will be made a little easier using these Relics, because you'll be able to turn them in ten at a time to the Sons Quartermaster for 250 reputation per turn-in. I highly, highly recommend buying the boot flask as soon as possible at the current 10 Relic price if you want it, or you'll have wasted 240 perfectly good Relics! That's 6,000 rep you could have earned. Or, you know, a ton of gold on the auction house since they'll no longer be BoP.

It actually will cost you 20 relics to purchase the flask. In order to open up the vendor for sales of the various Storm Peaks drinks, you first need to complete a quest which entails bringing 10 relics to the vendor. After that, they will sell the various drinks in exchange for relics, including the Iron Boot Flask for 10.

I had one. I destroyed it.

I guess I should stop vendoring all the relics that keep clogging up my bags then. Damn, that's easy rep.
Cartel Dec 15th 2008 3:24PM

This is an upcoming change currently live on the PTR. It won't be available until patch day, which is TBD at this point.

You have to wait for Patch 3.0.8 to drop first...just hang onto the relics for now

It's not from the Sons of Hodir quartermaster, it's from Olut Alegut at Grom'arsh Crash Site for Horde, or Rork Sharpchin at Frosthold for the Alliance.
KingdoK Dec 15th 2008 3:33PM
The Sons of Hodir does not sell this item. Rork Sharpchin in Frosthold does if you are Alliance and Olut Alegut in Grom'arsh does if you're Horde.

I believe he's trying to purchase the flask, in which case (if memory serves) you need to go to Frosthold and turn it in to a guy there.
It begins with a quest to turn in 10 of them to a guy in Frosthold, who then becomes a vendor with items purchasable with the marks. You might need to unlock the quest via Sons of Hodir quests but I'm not sure...

I believe the turn in for Relics of Ulduar for the Alliance side is with Rork Sharpchin of the Explorer's League in Frosthold, Storm Peaks (28.9, 74.1).

If you meant you were trying to get the flask, that's not Sons, that's Frostborn from a vendor (not a quartermaster)
shyguysamurai Dec 15th 2008 6:39PM
All good points. I bought the flask as soon as it was available to me and thought it was a bargan. Now I know just how much of a bargan it was.
From daily question I already have well over 100 relics and cannot wait to turn them in for Sons rep. I just hit Honored with them yesterday so I have a ton of rep to grind with them still.
RetPallyJil Dec 15th 2008 3:45PM
Ouch. I just junked a stack.
Hates Dec 15th 2008 3:50PM
Never junk (vendor/destroy) ANYTHING white..... there is almost always a use for it :)
Doc X Dec 15th 2008 5:16PM
I researched what the Relics would purchase. I was not interested in any of the drinks. I was not interested in any of the purchasable items, so I vendored many of them to a) save bag space and b) make a little extra scratch on Soulbound items that I wasn't going to use for anything.
As a non-Shaman, I did the same thing for Fish Scales and Fish Oil off of Naga in BC. Now that I have my glyph of Levitate on my priest, I vendor all my Light Feathers (now that my guildies have crafted their Quiver of a Thousand Feathers).
I know what those white items are for. I am not interested in their uses. I vendor them. I won't waste bag space on something just because it's white and I would say that anyone who does this has some priorities awry.
marty.hartwick Dec 15th 2008 3:59PM
I agree you should never really throw anything away thats white, unless you search wowhead or wowwiki first to see if its useful in someway.
I'm a packrat, I have two guild bank alt characters with 2 banks lots each and 3 other characters with full personal banks and slots.
Cuz hey, you never know when someone absolutely needs that level 25 white item for something and they are willing to pay :)
Barakdorin Dec 15th 2008 4:38PM
If
1. If it is a white item.
2. The description includes "there are certain individuals who place value in these ".
3. There is a faction that doesn't have a tabard in the zone the item drops from.
Don't delete, vendor or otherwise get rid of that item. Besides you can carry 250 a stack, how much room does that really take up.

because prior to these patch notes, they do have a use, to buy some semi useful drinks and the flask. turning them into the sons of hodir does not make a lot of sense, the dwarves are the ones interested in the titans, not the sons. the sons don't give a crap about who the titans were, they know where they came from, and they wouldn't need the relics to help. so, mr. wiseguy why would i have kept the 80 or so of these i vendored in the last month. the sons are akin to every other faction that only has dailies, they already have a turn in, so who in their right mind would expect blizzard to make another
DeathPaladin Dec 15th 2008 4:54PM
I'm glad I can start turning them in for rep. At this point, I have so much Snowfall Ale that I could jump of Draenor and land safely in the Storm Peaks.
