Elemental Shaman, Priest solo Onyxia
But time has proven us wrong. Does any of this mean anything? Probably not -- while it's certainly an achievement for these guys, the old bosses will only get easier as time goes on (until, of course, Blizzard decides to break out some Heroic versions of these instances), and the once-feared Onyxia will only become more and more of a punching bag. Grats to everyone who's been able to solo the old lady of raiding, but at this point, if a Disc Priest can do it, anyone can.

Considering that there's only one potion per fight, and bandages only go so far, rogues are right out.

Go Shammies :)
Naix Dec 29th 2008 3:58PM
I know right? So powerful I can't wait until I hit 80.
Go Shammies!

I can easily believe a priest would be able, they can heal themselves. Give me a rogue or mage soloing this, THEN i'll be impressed.
Frank Dec 16th 2008 8:00PM
you read my mind: i'm not impressed unless a rogue and/or a mage solo her.
Skulltula Dec 16th 2008 8:47PM
I totally agree. Why in the world would you say a Disc Priest is most unlikely? I mean, a Holy Priest would be even more unlikely, and that's the same class... But a mage or rogue or warrior or hunter (all the classes that can't heal) would be much more impressive than a priest (or shaman in this case). Of all of them, I think the mage would be most unlikely. They have the least avoidance of any of the other three, and would have the toughest time with casting while being dragon clawed. They would also be in the greatest danger of going oom and having to find an interrupted spot to go evocate. The only advantage I could see over the other three would have to be mage aoe. for the whelps/flying parts.

Absolutely, when I see a mage solo her, then and only then will I believe anyone can.
Cosmo Dec 17th 2008 4:47PM
Yeah I will never be able to do it on my mage.
I'm a casual player.

As a fairly geared holy paladin I haven't yet solo'd her but I know I can when I get the time to sit there and do it. I wandered in a few days ago and got her to about 80% without even breaking a sweat. I 2 manned her before wrath with a Ret mate regularly for gold. 90g for 15min work wasn't bad. A DK guild mate has also had a shot but he said the whelps keep over whelming him otherwise she's a pushover :P
Is it still a "Feat of Strength" to solo her?

Onyxia has become almost trivially easy for ret paladins at 80. I've soloed her 3 times. The last time a couple of days ago, and it took all of 12 minutes. It's a better money maker for me than dailies. ~200g plus a few epics I can vendor, and I'm slowly filling my bank slots with the 18 slot ony bags. I expect to see death knights doing it before too long. A guildy of mine is thinking of giving it a go shortly.

Heroic Onyxia?
Yes, please!
That said, the focus should always be on developing new content, but I certainly wouldn't mind if some of the classic bosses were converted for high lvl players. With new and improved loot, of course.
Jamie Dec 16th 2008 7:25PM
The way you titled it made it sound more like a duo
Sephywannabe Dec 16th 2008 7:44PM
Mages cant solo her :P.... unlike some classes, we go oom and cant self heal >
Kessul Dec 16th 2008 7:53PM
So, do you think, us mages would have to wait for the third expansion to at least get a shot at her solo or other lv 60 raid areas?
ROB13 Dec 16th 2008 7:31PM
Ho Hum, I don't think I can run in there as Mister Lock and solo her unless I do some serious respecing (I don't think Demo can handle this) and let Mr VW do all the tanking while I ride the portal out of there and heal up when I get agro....
Sentient Dec 17th 2008 12:55AM
I pretty solidly remember a lock soloing Onyxia a very, very long time ago. It was either very early BC days or even earlier (though I doubt that.) Memory also leads me to believe that he imp'd and tanked it himself as one of those Noggenfogger skeletons. Regardless, it would certainly be doable at 80 especially if you're remotely geared.
Kai Dec 16th 2008 7:33PM
A resto shaman, Miilk, on Nagrand US soloed her at 70.

Miilk is a godlike being.
Prophetik Dec 16th 2008 7:54PM
That's pretty amazing, thanks Kai for the link.

While I would love new content as much as the next person, I think at the current time, there is so much old content that is being wasted.
In my case, I stopped playing for quite a long period, before Burning Crusade was released, and have only just started playing again in the last few months.
I have pretty much missed out on a lot of old content, Blackwing Lair was the furthest anyone could go at that time...
so, I don't have to tell you, there's quite a lot I have missed, and would love to go though them all properly rather than running round soloing them - tuning them to ten or twenty five man raids would be fantastic.
xdiespa Dec 16th 2008 7:54PM
Yesterday I soloed it as a 80 warlock.
